Dubai Cultural Grant Programme Announced By Sheikha Latifa With AED 180 Million Investment For Local Talent

H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, has introduced the 'Dubai Cultural Grant' programme. This initiative aims to enhance Dubai's cultural and arts sectors by offering substantial support to its creative communities. The programme will distribute AED180 million in grants over the next decade to empower local talent across various cultural and creative industries.

The programme will provide 18 grants this year, totalling AED12 million. These grants aim to solidify Dubai's status as a global cultural hub and creativity incubator. The announcement took place at an event organised by Dubai Culture at Etihad Museum, attended by officials, partners, and creative talents from various organisations.

The 'Dubai Cultural Grant' is designed to support a wide range of industries, including visual arts, design, performing arts, culinary arts, literature, and more. It aims to nurture local talent and foster entrepreneurship in these fields. Sheikha Latifa emphasised that this initiative reflects Dubai's commitment to being a global centre for cultural expression and innovation.

The ‘Dubai Cultural Grant’ embodies this vision – an investment in future generations designed to ignite a cultural movement in Dubai. The strategic framework for the programme was developed by participants from the Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Leadership Development’s Impactful Leaders Programme. This includes Hamad Al Shirawi, Maitha Al Nuaimi, Ahmad Al Murr, Shaikha Al Shaikh, and Hind Al Mutawa. Tamakan Studio crafted the programme’s visual identity.

The Emirati Creatives in Venice Programme is one of the initiatives under this framework. It allows ten Emirati artists to engage in cultural exchange at the Venice Biennale through workshops and discussions with global artisans.

Supporting Culinary Arts

The Emirati Chefs Grant partners with ICCA Dubai to support aspiring chefs with diplomas tailored to market demands. Participants will learn traditional cuisines alongside innovative practices to prepare them for success in the culinary industry.

In collaboration with L'École School of Jewelry Arts, the Talent Atelier programme offers twelve Emirati designers an immersive experience in jewellery craftsmanship. Meanwhile, Art Jameel Research and Practice Platform provides ten grants for projects addressing environmental themes through artistic practice.

Showcasing Emirati Talent

The Shatha Essa Kids Pop-Up at Harrods marked a milestone as the first Emirati childrenswear brand featured there. This highlights Emirati talent on an international platform. Other initiatives include Quoz Arts Fest at Alserkal Avenue where creatives showcase their work publicly.

Dubai Design Week Grants enable artisans to present unique products at its marketplace leading to exhibitions like UAE Designer Exhibition showcasing local creativity within UAE.

Art Dubai Participation

The Art Dubai Grants enhance participation of Emirati artists in Art Dubai fair focusing on MENASA region art scene while Campus Art Dubai offers workshops enriching professional growth among UAE-based creatives.

International Exposure

The Maison & Objet UAE Designers Showcase Grant allows 15 designers from UAE exposure at Paris trade fair Maison & Objet highlighting their work globally while International Art Fairs Grant supports galleries showcasing UAE artists internationally promoting cross-cultural exchange.

Literary Initiatives

Through Exporting Local Literary Talent programme with Emirates Literature Foundation connects authors globally expanding reach of Emirati literature via festivals like Emirates Airline Festival fostering love for reading among diverse voices participating annually celebrating literary diversity worldwide.

Piano Camp Programme

HOUSE OF PIANOS UAE along with STEINWAY & SONS offers Piano Camp featuring expert-led workshops enhancing musical abilities among young talents aged 6-17 years old helping them grow musically through intensive six-month training sessions held strategically partnered alongside Dubai Culture authorities supporting youth development musically within region itself effectively nurturing future musicians locally too!

Theatre Accelerator Programme

The Theatre Accelerator provides specialised training in scenography sound theatrical arts offering hands-on experience enhancing skills needed future theatre projects Family Eid Play brings families
