Dubai Courts And UAE Sports Arbitration Centre Sign Agreement To Enhance Judicial Cooperation In Sports Disputes
Dubai Courts has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the UAE Sports Arbitration Centre. This partnership aims to improve cooperation in enforcing judicial and arbitral awards related to sports disputes. It also seeks to train sports arbitrators, reflecting a shared commitment to efficient justice and enhancing judicial procedures.
The agreement aligns with Dubai Courts' vision of "Judicial Leadership and Justice for a Global City." This vision is part of their strategy to deliver swift justice through an integrated judicial system and innovative services. The MoU was signed by Prof. Saif Ghanem Al Suwaidi, Director-General of Dubai Courts, and Jamal Hamed Al Marri, President of the UAE Sports Arbitration Centre.

Saif Ghanem Al Suwaidi expressed satisfaction with the agreement, stating, "We are pleased to enter into this agreement with the UAE Sports Arbitration Centre, through which we will combine our efforts to enhance the efficiency and scope of judicial services, while accelerating their delivery and facilitating access." He highlighted that this collaboration supports joint efforts in enforcing judicial awards and developing sports arbitration capabilities.
The MoU outlines that Dubai Courts will enforce all final awards issued by the Emirates Sports Arbitration Centre within its jurisdiction. Applications for enforcement must be submitted directly by the judgment creditor according to local laws and procedures. A copy of the writ of execution from the UAE Sports Arbitration Centre must accompany these applications.
Jamal Hamed Al Marri emphasised that this cooperation is a significant milestone for the UAE Sports Arbitration Centre. He stated that it aligns with their strategy of forming partnerships and effective communication channels with relevant institutions. This approach supports their mission to resolve sports disputes through conciliation and arbitration.
Al Marri noted that the Centre has established a roster of experienced conciliators and arbitrators in both legal and sports fields. He expressed gratitude towards Dubai Courts for hosting the signing ceremony, appreciating their readiness to strengthen cooperation through ongoing coordination and meetings.
Commitment to Global Standards
The MoU also includes defining the jurisdiction of the UAE Sports Arbitration Centre. It involves joint coordination to assist prevailing parties, ensuring procedural smoothness, organising workshops, and holding regular meetings to achieve cooperation objectives. This partnership reflects Dubai Courts' commitment to providing a legal framework that enhances Dubai's global competitiveness in judicial services.
