Dubai CommerCity To Establish New E-Commerce Fulfilment Centre By Third Quarter Of 2026

Dubai CommerCity has experienced significant growth in its operational areas, achieving an impressive 98% occupancy rate in its Business District. This surge is largely due to the increasing interest from technology, artificial intelligence, and e-commerce firms eager to leverage the free zone's advanced smart business environment.

Abdulrahman Shahin, Senior Vice President of Property Management and Supply Chain at Dubai CommerCity, shared insights during the Dubai Business Forum – USA in New York. He mentioned that six new buildings are under development to accommodate the rising demand. The Logistics District has reached full capacity at 100%, driven by companies in fashion, electronics, and last-mile delivery sectors.

The Social District has also reached full operational capacity with restaurants, cafés, and retail outlets now open, enhancing the business community within the free zone. Shahin emphasised that this growth highlights Dubai CommerCity’s role as a pivotal hub for the digital economy, aligning with the Dubai Digital Economy Strategy aimed at doubling the sector’s GDP contribution by 2032.

Plans are underway to establish a new e-commerce fulfilment centre by Q3 2026 to expand capacity and meet growing demands from digital commerce businesses. This initiative aligns with the UAE E-Commerce Strategy, which aims to attract investment and streamline business setup processes while boosting GDP contributions.

Shahin highlighted a shift towards sustainability, smart technologies, and integrated re-export infrastructure investments. Dubai CommerCity employs eco-friendly practices across its infrastructure. These include using treated water for air conditioning systems, operating electric vehicle charging stations that can fully charge a vehicle in 32 minutes, and installing solar panels and energy-efficient systems throughout its facilities.

The strategic location near Dubai International Airport enhances export efficiency. The DCC Way ecosystem provides access to approximately 3 billion consumers within five hours of flight time. Shahin noted that automated robotic systems have been introduced to speed up order fulfilment and reduce shipment processing times.

Investment Trends and Technological Advancements

This digital transformation led to a remarkable 158% increase in processed orders over one year, significantly reducing processing and delivery times. Shahin stated that these initiatives reflect Dubai CommerCity’s commitment to sustainability and smart infrastructure, making it an attractive destination for companies focused on green e-commerce and clean technologies.

Investments in logistics infrastructure are growing to facilitate re-export operations and connect Dubai CommerCity with the broader DIEZ ecosystem. This supports the Dubai Cross-Border Trade Strategy. Investors are increasingly targeting sectors like artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), and machine learning.

Dubai CommerCity supports startups through incubators and incentive programmes, reinforcing Dubai’s status as a global hub for digital innovation. Shahin concluded that these efforts underscore the free zone's dedication to fostering a sustainable future while advancing technological capabilities.
