Dubai CommerCity Collaborates With Aramex And QuikBot Technologies To Trial Autonomous Delivery Robots

Dubai CommerCity (DCC), a pioneering free zone dedicated to digital commerce, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Aramex and QuikBot Technologies. This agreement aims to initiate a trial run of QuikBot’s Autonomous Final-Mile Delivery (AFMD) Platform-as-a-service at DCC. The signing event was attended by notable figures including Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni, Executive Chairman of DIEZ, Raziff Aljunied, Consul General of Singapore, and Manosij Ganguli from Aramex.

The MoU aligns with the Dubai Robotics and Automation Program initiated by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. This initiative aims to position Dubai among the top 10 cities globally in robotics and automation technology adoption within the next decade. The program focuses on enhancing efficiency in service, industrial, and logistics sectors while boosting Dubai's economic competitiveness.

Dubai CommerCity Launches Autonomous Delivery Robot Trial

Amna Lootah, Board Member of Dubai CommerCity, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration. She stated that "Dubai CommerCity is committed to adopting the latest technological innovations that drive operational efficiency and productivity and enhance the logistics services system in Dubai." The trial run of QuikBot's autonomous delivery robots marks a significant step towards solidifying DCC's status as a hub for digital commerce.

Tarek Abu Yaghi from Aramex highlighted their commitment to innovation through this partnership. He said, "We are pleased to be cooperating with Dubai CommerCity and QuikBot Technologies to test these advanced autonomous robots in the free zone." This collaboration underscores Aramex's dedication to sustainable solutions and high-quality delivery services.

The MoU specifies cooperation between the parties to launch and test autonomous robots for last-mile delivery across various DCC facilities. During this trial phase, DCC will allocate specific areas for robot parking and charging. Additionally, they will integrate these robots with smart building IoT systems for seamless access to lifts and security turnstiles.

Under this agreement, Aramex will utilise its new outlet in DCC as a pickup and drop-off location for QuikBot Technologies' packages. Meanwhile, QuikBot Technologies will supply and operate the autonomous delivery robots. They will also provide Aramex with an application for managing deliveries along with technical support services.

Future Prospects

Alan Ng from QuikBot Technologies shared his excitement about partnering with Aramex. He remarked, "We are thrilled to partner with Aramex to launch the first advanced Autonomous Last-Mile Delivery Platform in Dubai." Ng emphasised that DCC's infrastructure offers an ideal environment for their solution, which they aim to replicate in other future-oriented cities.

This collaboration supports DCC's vision of providing an optimal platform for companies aiming to expand regionally. By promoting innovative technologies like autonomous delivery robots, DCC enhances its role as a leader in digital commerce advancements.
