Dubai Code For Ports Launches To Enhance Maritime Capacity And Sustainability Standards
The Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) has introduced the 'Dubai Code for Ports,' a groundbreaking initiative. This guide is the first of its kind globally, aiming to create a comprehensive framework of technical specifications for developing and managing ports and marinas. It sets a new standard for maritime infrastructure in Dubai and worldwide.
Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of PCFC, highlighted the significance of this project. He stated that the 'Dubai Code for Ports' enhances maritime operations' efficiency while aligning with sustainability goals and conserving marine resources. "We are committed to creating a safe and efficient environment that supports the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, and global trade, reinforcing Dubai’s leading position in the maritime sector locally, regionally, and internationally," he added.

The project's primary goal is to strengthen Dubai's pivotal role in the global supply chain. By supporting international maritime trade, it aims to boost both local and global economies. The initiative promotes seamless maritime operations by adhering to high technical standards in port infrastructure.
His Excellency Nasser Al Neyadi, CEO of PCFC, underscored the proactive nature of this project during a strategic workshop at Jumeirah Beach Hotel. He noted that the 'Dubai Code for Ports' enables Dubai to manage rapid growth in maritime transport effectively. This initiative addresses increasing demands for coastal infrastructure while supporting trade facilitation and marine tourism.
The project includes a unified guide detailing technical requirements for port management. It covers crucial areas such as soil inspection, dredging, land reclamation, island construction, soil improvement, water drainage systems, floating hotel design, pontoons, breakwater design, rock protection, among others.
Al Neyadi expressed confidence that this initiative would allow Dubai to set customs warehouse requirements aligned with certified guides. It aims to enhance user experience across all port activities, further establishing Dubai as a leading global trade hub.
The PCFC's strategic workshop brought together key maritime partners to discuss these developments. The focus was on ensuring that Dubai can accommodate future growth in maritime transport efficiently. This collaborative approach highlights Dubai's commitment to maintaining its leadership in the maritime sector.
This comprehensive project not only supports economic activities but also aligns with environmental conservation efforts. By setting high standards for port infrastructure development and management, it ensures sustainable growth in line with global best practices.
