Dubai Civil Aviation Authority Drives Aviation Growth At Airport Show 2024

The Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) has underscored its crucial role in advancing the aviation industry and related activities in the emirate during the 23rd edition of the Airport Show. The event, held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, featured participation from over 150 exhibitors from more than 20 countries.

One of the key achievements highlighted was the substantial growth in commercial activities within the aviation sector during the first quarter of 2024. The total number of activities reached 11,990, marking a 21 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023. This growth has led to a notable surge in permit requests by 72 percent, while permit renewals have grown more than threefold.

Requests for landing permits for aircraft—private, passenger, and cargo—at Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport have also seen a significant rise. These permits cover all types of non-scheduled and designated flights, both commercial and non-commercial. In the first quarter of 2024 alone, more than 4,000 permits were issued.

Construction Industry Impact

The emirate's construction industry has also experienced considerable growth, impacting building and elevation permits in air easement zones. These permits have increased to two and a half times their previous levels, reflecting the broader development trends within Dubai.

Leadership and Commitment

Mohammed Abdulla Lengawi, Director-General of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, commented on the sustainable growth of Dubai's aviation industry. He attributed this progress to the directives of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai. "His Highness attaches great importance to the future of the aviation sector in Dubai and the UAE, aiming to achieve global leadership," Lengawi stated.

Lengawi further emphasised DCAA's commitment to developing and managing aviation policy for the emirate. "At Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, we are committed to exerting all efforts to develop and manage aviation policy for the emirate, and to provide essential services to aviation operators and service providers," he added.

The event highlighted DCAA's ongoing efforts to support sustainable growth within Dubai's aviation sector. The authority continues to play a pivotal role in shaping policies that foster development while ensuring that essential services are provided efficiently.
