Dubai Chambers Hosts High-Level Meeting In Mumbai To Enhance Business Relations With India
Dubai Chambers recently hosted a significant business meeting in Mumbai, attended by prominent officials and business leaders from the UAE and India. The event was graced by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. During this gathering, Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori announced the opening of Dubai Chambers' second office in India, located in Bengaluru.
The new Bengaluru office aims to enhance business connections with India, building on the success of the first office established in Mumbai in 2018. Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy, and Piyush Goyal, India's Minister of Commerce and Industry, emphasised the robust economic relationship between the two countries. They noted that this development supports the UAE-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement's ambitious goals.
Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem highlighted Dubai's leadership's long-standing recognition of international trade's importance for economic growth. He stated, "Dubai’s leadership has long recognised that international trade and deeper connections with global markets are central to the emirate’s future economic growth." This sentiment underscores Dubai International Chamber's role in fostering global partnerships.
Al Mansoori pointed out that investments from Dubai into India have primarily targeted sectors like transportation, warehousing, real estate, and IT services. Conversely, Indian companies have significantly invested in Dubai's software and IT services, business services, and consumer goods sectors. These investments are expected to accelerate with the establishment of the new office.
He further stated that Dubai International Chamber's network is crucial for raising awareness among global businesses about opportunities in Dubai. "We remain committed to strengthening Dubai’s global investment appeal," he added. This commitment is aimed at supporting local businesses' international expansion while attracting multinational companies to benefit from Dubai's competitive environment.
Future Prospects
Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem also mentioned that strengthening ties with key economies like India reinforces Dubai as a hub for international collaboration. "By strengthening partnerships with key economies such as India," he said, "we are not only reinforcing Dubai’s role as a hub for international collaboration but also creating pathways for Emirati businesses to explore new global opportunities."
He added that broader engagement between business communities unlocks potential for cross-border trade and strengthens Dubai's strategic position in global commerce. "Through broader engagement between our business communities across sectors," he continued, "we are unlocking potential that can shape a new future for cross-border trade." These efforts aim to build resilient trade corridors and enhance shared prosperity.
The opening of the second representative office marks a significant step towards expanding cooperation between the UAE and India. It reflects both nations' commitment to fostering a partnership that has already led to substantial growth in bilateral trade. The initiative is expected to further boost investment flows and create new opportunities for businesses on both sides.
