Dubai Secures Nine Multinational Tech Firms With AED 304 Billion Market Value In 2023

Dubai's status as a leading hub for digital innovation and investment continues to strengthen, as evidenced by the recent announcement from the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy. Last year, the chamber successfully attracted nine multinational companies (MNCs) to Dubai, collectively valued at over AED304 billion (US$82.84 billion). This achievement underscores Dubai's appeal to innovative technology firms and aligns with the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33) to bolster the city's digital economy.

The diversity of the companies drawn to Dubai is notable, with their operations spanning cybersecurity, mobility technology, health and fitness technologies, new energy vehicles, robotics, autonomous systems, e-commerce, the automotive industry, legal services, and cryptocurrencies. This variety highlights Dubai's capacity to support a wide range of digital enterprises.

Dubai Wins Big in Tech Sector

Geographically, these companies represent a global interest in Dubai's digital economy, with three hailing from Asia, three from Europe, two from the USA, and one from Latin America. Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications and Chairman of Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, emphasized that attracting such companies marks a significant stride towards realizing Dubai's vision as a global digital economy leader.

Al Olama highlighted the chamber's ongoing efforts to meet the D33 agenda's targets and strengthen Dubai's digital business environment through strategic initiatives. Among these efforts is the "Create Apps in Dubai" initiative aimed at tripling the number of app developers by 2025 and supporting 100 new national projects for app development.

The chamber also hosted Expand North Star last October, the world’s largest gathering of startups and investors, drawing 33,060 participants globally. Additionally, the "Business in Dubai" platform was launched to assist companies in launching or expanding their operations in Dubai. This platform offers a suite of institutional services and a business matchmaking service to facilitate connections between companies and potential partners.

Throughout 2023, the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy organized numerous workshops and roadshows across various regions to discuss industry challenges and solutions while promoting Dubai as an attractive destination for digital businesses. These efforts reflect a comprehensive strategy to enhance Dubai's position as a preferred location for digital investments and specialized talent in the digital sector.

The chamber's success in attracting high-value multinational digital businesses to Dubai not only contributes to the emirate's economic growth but also positions it firmly on the global map as a competitive digital economy. With continued strategic initiatives and partnerships, Dubai is set to further solidify its status as an attractive city for digital investments and innovation.
