Dubai Chamber Achieves Record Growth With ATA Carnets Worth AED 5 Billion In 2023

Dubai Chamber of Commerce, a pivotal entity under Dubai Chambers, has recently announced a significant milestone in the importation of goods and commodities through ATA Carnets in 2023. The figures are impressive, with a total of 5,492 ATA Carnets issued and received, covering goods worth AED5 billion. This achievement marks a 47 percent increase in value compared to the previous year, showcasing robust growth in Dubai's exhibitions, events, and conferences sector. The ATA Carnet system plays a crucial role in this sector by enabling the duty-free and tax-free temporary importation of goods for up to one year, thus facilitating the smooth organization and execution of international events.

The data for January and February alone highlights the continuing upward trajectory, with 1,118 ATA Carnets issued for goods valued at AED695 million. This underscores the sustained positive momentum within the emirate's events and exhibitions sector. Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, emphasized the importance of ATA Carnets in enhancing Dubai's economic flexibility and boosting growth across various business sectors. He pointed out that simplifying customs procedures for transporting goods used in exhibitions and shows is vital for maintaining Dubai's status as a leading global destination for business and events.

Record ATA Carnet Growth in Dubai

Lootah further elaborated on the collaborative efforts behind the successful implementation of the ATA Carnet system in the UAE. The partnership between Dubai Chamber of Commerce, Dubai Customs, the Federal Customs Authority, and chambers of commerce across the UAE has been instrumental in facilitating the movement of goods and commodities. This collaboration aims to enhance the competitiveness of Dubai's business environment and solidify its position as a global hub for promotional exhibitions, events, and conferences.

The record growth achieved in the value of goods imported under ATA Carnets in 2023 is a testament to Dubai's thriving exhibitions, events, and conferences sector. It also reflects the city's growing reputation as a premier destination for international business. With the effective use of ATA Carnets, Dubai continues to streamline customs procedures, thereby attracting more international events and contributing significantly to its economic development.
