As the festive period draws near, the Dubai Municipality (DM) has escalated its inspection efforts, while the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has disseminated valuable recommendations for those planning to frequent these establishments. So, if you're planning a trip to the salon during the Eid break, here's what you must know.

Enhanced Monitoring And Inspection Efforts

Dubai Municipality has taken to social media to announce the amplification of its monitoring campaigns and inspection visits across the emirate. Beauty centres, women's salons, and men's barbershops are under closer scrutiny to ensure they meet the health requirements essential for the safety of their clients. In a move to demonstrate their commitment to public health, DM has shared a video highlighting the inspection process, showcasing the diligent examination of tools and practices within these establishments.

Complementing the efforts of DM, the Dubai Health Authority has issued a series of recommendations aimed at safeguarding personal health and safety during salon and barbershop visits. These guidelines are crucial for minimizing the risk of adverse reactions or infections:

• Verify Health And Safety Standards: It’s crucial to ensure the establishment follows stringent health and safety guidelines, including cleanliness, sanitation, and proper equipment usage.
• Avoid Unfamiliar Hair Dye Brands And Black Henna: Unfamiliar hair dye brands or those containing harsh chemicals, as well as black henna with potential harmful additives, should be avoided to prevent allergic reactions or skin irritation.
• Conduct A Patch Test For Dyes: Before applying hair dye broadly, testing it on a small skin area can help identify any adverse reactions in advance.
• Be Cautious With New Treatments And Products: Introducing new beauty treatments or products, especially on sensitive skin or areas prone to allergies, poses risks. Sticking to known products or consulting a dermatologist is advisable.
• Use Personal Grooming Tools: To reduce the risk of cross-contamination, it’s recommended to use personal grooming tools for shaving, hair, and nails. If not available, ensure that the salon’s tools are properly sterilized.
