Al Ruwayyah Yard Parking Initiative Enhances Dubai Traffic Safety And Urban Organisation

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has opened the Al Ruwayyah Yard project, creating a dedicated hub for large specialised vehicles. The new yard offers organised parking for caravans, boats, Jet Skis, trailers, and food trucks, helping reduce roadside congestion while supporting Dubai’s wider goals for sustainable urban planning and quality of life.

The initiative is designed to regulate where these vehicles stop and stay, instead of leaving them spread across streets and neighbourhoods. By concentrating parking in one secure facility, RTA aims to protect the city’s visual character, support tourism appeal, and keep traffic moving smoothly across residential and key urban areas.

Al Ruwayyah Yard Parking Initiative

Abdulla Yousef Al Ali, CEO of Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector at RTA, stated that the project is intended as a complete, secure parking solution. The design supports caravans, boats, trailers, and food vending vehicles, in line with Dubai’s status as a major global centre for living, tourism, and business activity.

"This initiative represents a key pillar in curbing unregulated practices and maintaining smooth traffic flow. The yard will provide 335 dedicated parking spaces, equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, directly contributing to safeguarding the road right-of-way, enhancing traffic safety, and enhancing the city’s overall visual appeal."

"Al Ruwayyah Yard project forms part of a series of initiatives aimed at supporting sustainable urban development and the optimal utilisation of RTA assets, including land plots across various areas of the emirate. It also helps address challenges arising from random and unregulated parking within the road right-of-way and residential areas, supporting RTA’s ambitious plans to make Dubai the world’s best city to live and work in, while meeting the aspirations of residents, visitors, and tourists from across the globe,"

RTA links the yard to broader sustainability and planning strategies, including better use of its land holdings. Concentrating these vehicles inside a purpose-built yard helps protect road corridors, reduces visual clutter, and supports safer driving conditions. It also aligns with efforts to organise urban spaces across the emirate for long-term growth.

Future expansion and partnerships for Al Ruwayyah Yard project

"Work is currently underway to study the expansion of this service to other locations across Dubai, to achieve wider coverage and ensure the service is easily accessible to individuals and companies throughout the emirate." The assessment will guide how similar facilities might be rolled out to match demand in different districts.

"Al Ruwayyah Yard project was implemented and is being managed in collaboration with a specialised company in Dubai. This reflects RTA commitment to working with the private sector and aligns with the vision of Dubai Government to strengthen public-private partnerships in delivering vital infrastructure projects and achieving objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33). It also supports sustainable economic growth by leveraging private sector expertise and promoting knowledge exchange to deliver advanced services to the public across all segments of society."

Through Al Ruwayyah Yard project, RTA connects organised parking with wider economic and planning goals, combining traffic safety, urban order, and asset use. The facility demonstrates how dedicated yards can reduce random parking, support residents and visitors, and contribute to Dubai’s long-term vision for liveability and sustainable growth.
