Dubai Airshow Highlights UAE’s Strategic Role As A Global Hub For Aviation Innovation
The Dubai Airshow has become a crucial event for the aviation, space, and defence sectors. Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism and Chairman of the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), emphasised its significance in showcasing future trends and innovations that are shaping the global economy. The 19th edition, themed "The Future Starts Here," attracted industry leaders, experts, and decision-makers worldwide.
Al Marri highlighted civil aviation as vital to the UAE's economic growth. He noted that it contributes about 18% to the national GDP through airlines, airports, cargo facilities, and logistics. The sector is set to grow further with investments in advanced technologies like electric aircraft and sustainability systems. This growth enhances the UAE's economic reputation and competitiveness globally.

This year's exhibition features over 1,500 exhibitors from 115 countries. It offers a platform for forming new partnerships and strengthening international collaboration. Attendees can exchange expertise and best practices to support a more prosperous aviation sector locally and internationally.
Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the GCAA, described the Airshow as a strategic platform to boost the UAE’s global aviation presence. "Through our participation this year," he stated, "the Authority aims to enhance the competitiveness of the UAE aviation sector by signing new cooperation agreements." These agreements focus on safety, air navigation, advanced air mobility, innovation, and sustainability.
The GCAA is committed to supporting international aviation organisations like ICAO. They focus on initiatives for green aviation and emissions reduction while adopting best legislative practices. This commitment reinforces the UAE's pivotal role in global aviation efforts.
