Drydocks World Expands South Yard To Enhance Global Leadership In Renewable Energy And Marine Projects

Drydocks World has inaugurated its South Yard expansion, a 75,000 sqm facility aimed at boosting fabrication capabilities. This multi-million-dollar project enhances the company's role in marine and offshore wind energy sectors. The expansion increases fabrication capacity by 40% and yard capacity by 25%, allowing for simultaneous large-scale projects.

The South Yard features the largest load-out jetty in the Middle East and Africa, capable of handling structures up to 37,000 tonnes. This infrastructure enables Drydocks World to meet rising demands for energy transition projects globally. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, stated, "The South Yard expansion is a testament to Drydocks World's commitment to innovation and sustainable growth."

Equipped with cutting-edge technologies like robotic profile-cutting machines and automated CNC systems, the South Yard significantly improves precision and efficiency in fabrication. It can accommodate up to 3,000 workers daily and is designed for complex industrial projects such as converting FPSO vessels and constructing topsides for offshore platforms.

A 5,000-tonne Sheerleg Floating Crane will be operational by 2026, further enhancing the yard's capability to manage large projects. The facility operates entirely on clean energy from the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.
