Drone Parcel Delivery Trial Initiated In Jeddah Under TGA Acting President's Patronage
In Jeddah, a significant trial for drone-based parcel delivery was conducted. This initiative was under the patronage of Dr. Rumaih Al-Rumaih, Vice Minister of Transport and Logistic Services and Acting President of the Transport General Authority (TGA). The trial is part of a broader effort to modernise Saudi Arabia's postal sector.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) collaborated with TGA for this project. GACA managed aviation operations and regulations, while TGA focused on postal sector legislation. Dr. Al-Rumaih highlighted that using drones marks a major advancement in parcel delivery services.

He explained that this technological leap will create new opportunities for expanding services and developing innovative solutions. These efforts align with Saudi Arabia's digital transformation goals, aiming to enhance postal and logistics services' efficiency and adaptability.
Captain Suleiman Al-Muheimidi, GACA Executive Vice President for Aviation Safety and Environmental Sustainability, commented on the trial's significance. He stated that the initiative represents a real breakthrough for logistics in the Kingdom, leading to faster and more sustainable solutions.
GACA has updated its aviation safety regulations to comply with international standards from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
