Dragon Oil Celebrates 25 Years Of Successful Partnership And Investment In Turkmenistan's Energy Sector

Dragon Oil recently marked its 25th anniversary of operations in Turkmenistan with a grand event at Ashgabat's Yyldyz Hotel. This celebration underscored a quarter-century of successful investment and collaboration between Turkmenistan and the UAE. The event was attended by key figures, including Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of Emirates National Oil Group (ENOC) and Dragon Oil, along with board members Ahmed Al Muhairbi, Qusai Al Shared, Ahmed Sharaf, and CEO Abdulkarim Al Mazmi.

The ceremony began with a corporate video highlighting Dragon Oil's international journey and significant work in the Cheleken contract area. This presentation paid tribute to the people and partnerships that have been central to the company's success. The event also saw participation from Guvanch Agajanov, Minister of State and Chairman of the State Concern "Turkmennebit," as well as Ahmed Al Hai Al Hamli, UAE Ambassador to Turkmenistan. Ambassadors from over 20 countries, government officials, energy sector leaders, and key partners were also present.

Dragon Oil Marks 25 Years in Turkmenistan

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer expressed gratitude to Turkmenistan's government and people for their support over the years. He stated: "For 25 years, Dragon Oil has been more than just an investor; we have been a committed partner in the development of Turkmenistan’s energy sector. Our success is a direct result of the unlimited support we have received from the wise leadership of the UAE and our sister nation, Turkmenistan." He highlighted that 93% of Dragon Oil's team in Turkmenistan comprises local employees.

Guvanch Agajanov praised Dragon Oil for its reliability and responsibility as a foreign partner in Turkmenistan's oil and gas sector. He noted: "Over the past years, Dragon Oil (Turkmenistan) Ltd. has established itself as one of the most reliable and responsible foreign partners in the oil and gas sector of Turkmenistan." Since starting operations in 2000, Dragon Oil has significantly contributed to developing fields in the Caspian Sea region.

Ahmed Al Hai Al Hamli emphasised energy's central role in UAE-Turkmenistan cooperation. He remarked: "Energy remains at the heart of our cooperation. Over the past 25 years, Dragon Oil has played a vital role in developing Turkmenistan’s oil and gas sector." He congratulated Dragon Oil’s leadership and staff for their hard work in strengthening ties between both nations.

Abdulkarim Al Mazmi highlighted remarkable growth achieved through this partnership over 25 years. In his speech, he said: "Over the past 25 years, our partnership has achieved remarkable growth — in production, investment, development, and community well-being." He acknowledged more than 90 colleagues who have served with dedication for 25 years.

Dragon Oil has invested over $11 billion during its time in Turkmenistan. These efforts reflect their commitment to sustainability and prosperity for the country. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer noted that this occasion serves as a launching pad for future growth and cooperation.

The event celebrated not only past achievements but also looked forward to continued collaboration between Dragon Oil and Turkmenistan. The shared pursuit of excellence continues to guide this trusted partnership into its next chapter.
