DP World And Evyap Group Merge To Forge Major Logistics Hub In Türkiye

DP World and Evyap Group have finalised a strategic merger, combining two significant ports on the Marmara Sea to form a new international logistics hub. This merger aims to enhance Türkiye's crucial role in global trade. The Turkish Competition Authority has approved the merger, leading to the creation of DP World Evyap.

The new entity, DP World Evyap, will address the rising demand for advanced logistics in the region. It will boost Türkiye's export and import volumes, foster the growth of new sectors, and solidify the country's status as a key player in international supply chains. The merger results in a combined berthing space of 2,088 metres, allowing more than one ultra-large container vessel to dock simultaneously at both terminals.

New Logistics Hub by DP World & Evyap

DP World now holds a 58% stake in Evyapport, while Evyap Group retains a 42% share in DP World Yarımca. The rebranding introduces 'DP World Evyap Yarımca' and 'DP World Evyap Körfez' as the new names for these maritime gateways. This integration expands operations to include project and heavy lift cargo services.

Moreover, DP World Evyap will benefit from advanced road and rail links, ensuring expedited turnaround times. A team of over 900 logistics experts will be dedicated to optimising cargo journeys. The total annual container handling capacity is set to exceed 2 million TEUs.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, DP World's Group Chairman and CEO, stated, "DP World's vision is to lead global trade to a stronger, more efficient and sustainable future. Our strategic partnership with Evyapport advances this strategy in Türkiye; one of our most important markets. We're delighted to bring enhanced end-to-end solutions to our customers and the many benefits in speed and efficiency of this union."

Strategic Partnership Benefits

Kris Adams, CEO of DP World Türkiye, commented on the partnership's potential economic benefits for Türkiye and the broader region. He said that combining their existing infrastructures would offer customers a powerful new service offering at the heart of an increasingly vital region for global trade.

Mehmed Evyap, founder and CEO of Evyap Holding, highlighted that this partnership merges DP World's global expertise with Evyapport's local knowledge. He noted that it strengthens their presence in the port sector while expanding investments in this field. "The new company will shorten operation times, increase service diversity and add value to our customers and Türkiye's trade with efficiencies achieved across the two partnership terminals," he added.

This merger signifies a significant step towards enhancing Türkiye's logistics capabilities and its role in global trade networks.
