DP World Expands Vehicle Capacity At Jebel Ali Port To Support Growing Automotive Demand

DP World has expanded its automotive logistics at Jebel Ali Port by launching a 2.6 million square foot vehicle storage yard at Terminal 4. This addition increases the port's capacity by 13,000 car equivalent units (CEUs), bringing the total to 75,000 CEUs. The development strengthens Dubai's status as a key automotive trade hub in the Middle East.

The new facility includes an 800-metre quay capable of accommodating three roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) vessels at once. By moving RoRo operations from Terminal 1 to this new area, DP World enhances berth availability and speeds up turnaround times, meeting rising customer demand and preparing for future growth.

Abdulla Bin Damithan, CEO and Managing Director of DP World GCC, stated: "Dubai is scaling up its role as a global automotive trade hub and this expansion gives car manufacturers, dealers, and logistics providers faster, more reliable access to key markets across the Middle East, Africa, and beyond."

Shahab Al Jassmi, SVP - Commercial, Ports and Terminals at DP World GCC, added: "This is a customer focused investment. More yard space, quicker service and reliable berth availability are all designed to help the automotive supply chain grow."

The announcement coincides with a notable rise in vehicle volumes. In the first half of 2025 alone, Jebel Ali Port processed 545,000 vehicles, marking a 28% increase compared to the previous year. Imports made up 65% of this total, coming mainly from China, Japan, Thailand, India, and South Korea.

This expansion aligns with DP World's broader automotive strategy. Plans include developing a 20 million square foot advanced car market in Dubai. This market aims to be the largest globally and supports Dubai’s D33 agenda to double its economy by 2033 while becoming a leader in smart logistics.
