DP World Australia Strengthens Logistics Capabilities With Acquisition Of Silk Logistics Holdings Limited

DP World Australia, part of the global transport and logistics giant DP World, has announced a significant acquisition. The company plans to acquire Silk Logistics Holdings Limited by purchasing all its issued share capital. This will be done through a Scheme of Arrangement with a cash offer of A$2.14 per share, valuing Silk Logistics' equity at about A$174.5 million.

The acquisition is pending approval from Silk Logistics' shareholders and regulatory bodies. It is anticipated to be finalised in the first half of 2025. Silk Logistics operates extensively across Australia, with 21 logistics hubs and 25 warehousing sites spread over five states, providing comprehensive port-to-door services.

DP World Australia Acquires Silk Logistics

DP World Australia manages four container terminals and three container parks in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Fremantle. It also operates inland distribution centres and warehouses. The company handles around 10% of the world's containerised trade, showcasing its significant role in global logistics.

Silk Logistics is divided into two main segments: Port Logistics and Contract Logistics. Port Logistics offers seamless wharf cartage services between major Australian ports. Contract Logistics provides warehousing and multimodal distribution solutions to meet complex supply chain needs.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, stated that acquiring Silk Logistics strengthens their integrated logistics capabilities. He emphasised their commitment to offering seamless, end-to-end customised solutions while delivering sustainable value for stakeholders.

Complementary Solutions for Oceania

Glen Hilton, CEO and Managing Director for Asia Pacific at DP World, expressed enthusiasm about integrating Silk Logistics into their portfolio. He noted that this acquisition aligns with their strategy to provide complementary logistics solutions for a diverse customer base across Oceania.

Combining DP World Australia's terminal operations with Silk Logistics' services enhances their ability to deliver improved solutions for customers. This strategic move aims to broaden service offerings and reinforce DP World's position as a leader in the logistics sector.

The acquisition represents a pivotal step in expanding DP World's service capabilities within Oceania's logistics landscape. By integrating Silk Logistics' operations, DP World aims to offer more comprehensive solutions tailored to customer needs while maintaining sustainable growth for all stakeholders involved.
