Dolphin Energy Limited Becomes Official Sponsor Of EAD's Abu Dhabi Mangrove Initiative For Coastal Restoration
The Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) has announced that Dolphin Energy Limited is now an official sponsor of the Abu Dhabi Mangrove Initiative (ADMI). This partnership will see Dolphin Energy support ADMI's restoration efforts over five years. The sponsorship includes a comprehensive programme for mangrove and coastal restoration, which involves scientific assessments, monitoring, and educational activities.
ADMI was launched during HRH Prince William's visit to the UAE in February 2022. During this visit, he met with H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at Jubail Mangrove Park. Currently, there are 16 partners involved in this initiative, both local and international.

By signing the ADMI pledge, Dolphin Energy Limited commits to five key pillars: research, innovation, partnership, protection, and education. Dr. Shaikha Salem Al Dhaheri, Secretary-General of EAD, expressed excitement about this collaboration. She stated that Abu Dhabi aims to become a global hub for mangrove conservation research and innovation through ADMI.
Dr. Al Dhaheri noted that the initiative encourages businesses to engage in more than just one-time mangrove planting efforts. Instead, they can make a lasting impact on nature and society through science-based coastal restoration. She believes that in five years, there will be significant environmental achievements from this partnership.
Obaid Abdulla Al Dhaheri, CEO of Dolphin Energy Limited, shared his enthusiasm for supporting ADMI. He emphasised the importance of businesses contributing to environmental strategies to tackle pressing challenges. "We are delighted to support the Abu Dhabi Mangrove Initiative and take this opportunity to build a long-term commitment that will serve this critical restoration programme," he said.
He further added that sponsoring ADMI aligns with their decarbonisation strategy and stakeholder engagement programme. It also strengthens their relationship with EAD as they work together on this crucial initiative.
A Global Hub for Mangrove Research
ADMI serves as a hub for mangrove and blue carbon research and conservation at local, regional, and international levels. It brings together researchers and stakeholders through workshops, conferences, and training sessions. The partnership programme is open to all institutions aiming to contribute measurably to nature-based solutions in the UAE and globally.
This collaboration marks a significant step towards achieving a positive environmental future by fostering partnerships focused on sustainable development and conservation efforts.
