DoH And STRAC Forge Partnership To Strengthen Healthcare Resilience And Sustainability

The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Southwest Texas Regional Advisory Council (STRAC). This agreement, signed during Abu Dhabi Global Health Week 2025, aims to enhance healthcare resilience and sustainability in the emirate. The collaboration focuses on creating integrated healthcare frameworks to ensure high-quality care during crises and strengthen emergency response systems.

Dr. Rashed Alsuwaidi, Director-General of Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, witnessed the signing. Dr. Salama Jamal Husain bin Rafeea from the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre and Jordan Ghawi from STRAC formalised the partnership. They aim to facilitate knowledge exchange, stakeholder coordination, and innovation in critical healthcare decision-making. This initiative positions Abu Dhabi as a leader in sustainable healthcare solutions.

DoH Partners with STRAC for Healthcare Resilience

Ghawi highlighted their experience in developing regional emergency healthcare systems and Regional Medical Operations Centers (RMOCs). He stated, "Our experience in developing robust regional emergency healthcare systems and creating Regional Medical Operations Centers (RMOCs) has shown us that resilience is built long before a crisis hits. Through this partnership with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, we’re combining our operational insights with their visionary approach to healthcare, creating sustainable, agile health systems that protect lives and elevate care across borders."

The partnership will also focus on emergency medical services, pre-hospital operations, healthcare data systems, and public awareness initiatives. By implementing global best practices, they aim to drive excellence across the sector. This aligns with the Emirate’s vision of fostering a healthy population and ensuring continuous resilience for future generations.

Dr. Alsuwaidi emphasised the importance of resilient health systems for stable communities. He said, "Resilient and sustainable health systems form the backbone of stable communities. Through our strategic collaboration with the STRAC, we are spearheading transformative initiatives to fortify emergency preparedness and elevate crisis response capabilities, ensuring our sector remains agile in addressing evolving challenges."
