DoH And Cognizant Join Forces To Enhance Abu Dhabi’s Digital Health Ecosystem With AI Insights

The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cognizant Technology Solutions Overseas Corporation during GITEX Global Week 2024. This partnership aims to enhance patient care and healthcare delivery using AI-driven clinical insights, ultimately improving outcomes for the community. The collaboration focuses on integrating advanced technology, comprehensive clinical research, and data analytics into healthcare systems for tangible benefits.

The MoU was signed by Ibrahim Al Jallaf, Executive Director of Digital Health at DoH, and Maged Wassim, Vice President–Middle East Market Head of Cognizant. Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of the DoH, was present at the signing. Al Jallaf expressed enthusiasm about partnering with Cognizant to drive innovation through AI and technology in healthcare. "The DoH is delighted to join forces with Cognizant on this transformative journey," he stated.

Cognizant's Wassim highlighted the collaboration's goals: "Our collaboration aims to deliver cohort insights and link medical, medications, and diagnostic information to support various use cases." These include switch prediction, prescription journey improvements, disease outbreak predictions, and risk assessments. The partnership will explore two AI use cases: 'AI-powered Information Extraction from Unstructured Clinical Records' and 'Medication Intelligent Monitoring'.

This initiative seeks to provide a detailed view of each patient's medical history in the Emirate. It includes information on medications, devices, surgeries, and all medical interactions throughout their healthcare journey. By analysing demographic factors through geographic visualisation filtered by age, gender, ethnicity, and medical history, DoH and Cognizant aim to offer personalised healthcare solutions.

The department plans to address capacity gaps within the sector by using data insights to identify inefficiencies in the system. Leveraging AI will improve clinical decision-making processes, ensuring higher-quality care and better patient outcomes. This approach aligns with DoH's commitment to pioneering innovation based on data-driven clinical insights.
