Doctors Emirates Initiative Expands Mobile Cardiac Catheterisation Centre Service In Egypt's Villages

The Doctors Emirates Initiative has launched the second phase of its Mobile Cardiac Catheterisation Centre service in Egyptian villages. This effort is part of the Egypt-UAE Cardiac Health Programme, which began in 2015. The initiative aims to provide high-quality healthcare to heart patients, especially the elderly and women in remote areas lacking specialised hospitals.

Emirati heart surgeon Dr. Adel Abdullah Al Shameri Al Ajmi, CEO of the Zayed Giving Initiative, highlighted the project's success in Africa. "During its initial humanitarian missions in Africa, the Mobile Cardiac Catheterisation Centre treated thousands of heart patients—children and the elderly—suffering from acute and chronic cardiac conditions," he stated.

Mobile Cardiac Centre Service Expands in Egypt

The second phase follows a successful pilot phase in Africa, where thousands received treatment over ten years. This initiative is part of the Zayed Humanitarian Campaigns, aligning with leadership directives to offer innovative services to those in need. It continues the humanitarian legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan through the Zayed Giving Initiative.

The project operates under a voluntary framework led by Dar Al Ber Society, Emirates Mobile Clinics, and GE. The Egyptian Ministry of Health sponsors it, with supervision by UAE and Egyptian doctors from the Young Humanitarian Medical Leaders Programme (YHMLP). This collaboration ensures comprehensive care for heart patients.

The operational plan in Egypt involves two stages: building capacity and medical readiness first, then operating the Mobile Cardiac Catheterisation Centre. The aim is to reduce burdens on heart patients by providing diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive services. Emirati, Egyptian, and French medical teams actively participate in this mission.

A joint committee has been established to maintain specialised cardiac services' sustainability and continuity. Teams are tasked with designing training programs for medical staff to perform procedures according to international standards within mobile surgical units.

Expanding Reach and Impact

This initiative sets an example in humanitarian entrepreneurship by reaching millions globally over 25 years. It demonstrates a commitment to improving healthcare access for underserved populations while training medical staff according to global standards.

The second phase's launch reflects Sheikh Zayed's humanitarian spirit and continues efforts that began with the Zayed Giving Initiative in 2000. By addressing cardiac health needs in remote areas, it exemplifies effective social entrepreneurship on both local and international levels.
