Dnata Announces $110 Million Rollout Of 800 New Ground Support Equipment Units In 2025
dnata, a prominent provider of air and travel services, plans to introduce 800 new ground support equipment (GSE) units globally in 2025. This initiative, valued at US$110 million, is part of dnata's strategy to boost operational efficiency and cut emissions. The new equipment will be sourced through long-term contracts with top manufacturers in 2024, ensuring a steady supply of advanced, lower-emission machinery.
The agreements for the new equipment are valued at US$210 million. They aim to support dnata's growth and sustainability goals by securing advanced technology. These 800 units will be deployed across ten countries, with significant allocations to the UAE, Brazil, Italy, USA, and Singapore. This reflects the company's operational expansion in these regions this year.

Clive Sauvé-Hopkins, CEO of dnata Airport Operations, stated: "Our continued significant investment in our modern fleet reflects both the scale of our expansion and our ambition to lead the industry in operational excellence and sustainability. We are accelerating the adoption of zero-, and low-emission technology wherever the infrastructure supports it - and where it is still developing, we proactively work with our partners to implement the most practical and forward-looking solutions."
dnata's global fleet strategy involves phasing out diesel engines in favour of electric, hybrid, or hydrogen-powered alternatives. This transition is tailored to each location's infrastructure and operational needs. Currently, over 40% of dnata’s fleet operates on electricity in key markets like Italy, Switzerland, The Netherlands, and the UK.
In addition to adopting cleaner technologies, dnata collaborates with biofuel suppliers to further reduce emissions. Recently, it switched its entire non-electric fleet in Dubai to biodiesel. This change has led to significant carbon reductions while maintaining high standards at one of the world's major transport hubs.
Enhancing Operational Efficiency
Operational efficiency remains a core focus for dnata. The company uses Vehicle Tracking Management systems to monitor fuel consumption across its GSE fleet. It also conducts logistics mapping exercises to minimise travel distances airside and optimises shifts and parking slots to prevent unnecessary fuel use.
Clive Sauvé-Hopkins added: "We take a long-term, data-driven approach and adapt to the realities on the ground. This is how we deliver strong performance while reducing our carbon footprint for the benefit of our customers, people and communities."
This comprehensive approach ensures that dnata not only meets its operational goals but also contributes positively towards environmental sustainability.
