Diversity And Creativity Reshape Global Content Industry At BRIDGE Summit 2025
Chris Pang, an Australian actor renowned for his role in the 2018 film Crazy Rich Asians, participated in the BRIDGE Summit 2025. Alongside fellow actors Osric Chau and Ross Butler, they discussed how local stories can achieve global success while maintaining cultural authenticity. The session, titled ‘Global Blockbusters, Local Roots,’ attracted a large audience eager to hear insights from these actors with Asian heritage.
The discussion highlighted Hollywood's shifting role as the central hub of global cinema. Streaming services, social media, and international fan communities are blurring traditional boundaries. Pang noted that Crazy Rich Asians marked a pivotal moment for Asian representation in Hollywood. He stated: "Before that, the excuse of not to greenlight diverse projects was always that they wouldn’t perform at the box office. After that year, that argument didn’t hold, and suddenly more authentic stories started getting developed."

Ross Butler emphasized the importance of authenticity in entertainment as it becomes increasingly global. Known for his roles in 13 Reasons Why and K.C. Undercover, Butler remarked on the need for artistic education to ensure diverse stories challenge audiences rather than merely entertain them. "As entertainment becomes more global, our screens are only going to get more diverse – and that’s a good thing," he said.
The conversation also delved into storytelling's evolution across continents while staying true to real-life experiences. Shaina Zafar moderated this engaging session. New platforms continue to disrupt traditional storytelling methods by offering fresh opportunities for creators worldwide.
Osric Chau shared his thoughts on how streaming has transformed storytelling rules. Chau is known for his roles in Supernatural and Arrowverse TV shows. He expressed excitement about emerging formats driven by technology and creativity: "What excites me most is the next wave we haven’t named yet." With AI advancing content creation and consumption, audiences will experience narratives in unprecedented ways.
The BRIDGE Summit 2025 featured over 300 sessions reflecting its vast scale and ambition. This inaugural event took place from December 8-10 at ADNEC in Abu Dhabi.
The summit underscored how local narratives can resonate globally without losing their cultural essence. As new technologies emerge, storytelling will continue evolving beyond conventional formats.
