Diriyah Company Secures Two Mostadam 'Ajwad' Sustainability Certifications At Cityscape Global Event

Diriyah Company has been honoured with two Mostadam (Ajwad) sustainability certifications from the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing. This recognition aligns with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 and the Quality of Life Program. The awards were given for projects in Northern Diriyah and The Ritz-Carlton Residences, announced at the Cityscape Global event in Riyadh from November 11 to 14.

The Mostadam certification evaluates residential and community projects based on sustainability ratings, supported by the Ajwad initiative. These standards include expanding green spaces, ensuring safe pathways for pedestrians and cyclists, and minimising water waste by reusing it for irrigation within the project areas. To date, 74 projects have been registered under this initiative.

Diriyah North achieved a remarkable 86 points on the Mostadam certification scale, earning the prestigious Diamond level for its Masterplan. This highlights Diriyah Company's dedication to sustainability and improving community quality of life. The company plans to apply for additional Mostadam Diamond certifications for other districts soon.

Sustainability efforts at Diriyah North include fulfilling all irrigation needs with treated sewage effluent, providing shaded walkways covering 46 percent of pedestrian paths, and allocating 25 percent of the area to parks and open spaces. These initiatives demonstrate a strong commitment to environmental responsibility.

The Ajwad initiative has seen five Diriyah projects registered so far, with two already achieving certification: Diriyah North received Masterplan certification at the Diamond Level, while The Ritz-Carlton Residences earned Asset certification at the Gold Level. Three more projects are expected to receive certification next year.

In recent years, Diriyah has received several sustainability accolades. In 2023, it became the first Middle Eastern project to achieve LEED Platinum certification for its Masterplan's first phase. Additionally, Wadi Safar masterplan earned SITES Gold precertification, while Bujairi Car Park and Samhan Car Park received Parksmart Gold pre-certifications in 2022 and 2023 respectively.
