Diriyah Company Launches 'Diriyah Tan': A Unique Colour Reflecting Cultural Heritage And Identity
Diriyah Company has partnered with Pantone to create "Diriyah Tan," a colour that encapsulates the historical essence of Diriyah, known as the City of Earth. This distinctive shade is inspired by the land of Diriyah, aiming to highlight its importance as a cultural and tourism hub, with a goal of drawing 50 million visitors annually by 2030.
The unique golden hue of Diriyah Tan is derived from authentic mud brick materials sourced from fifteen different locations across Saudi Arabia. This colour captures the authenticity of Najdi architecture and Saudi Arabia's rich heritage. It combines meticulous design to preserve the Kingdom's history and cultural legacy while embodying an ambitious vision for the future.

Jerry Inzerillo, CEO of Diriyah Company Group, highlighted that this unique colour celebrates Saudi culture and traditions. He noted that Diriyah's distinctive Najdi architectural style forms part of its unique visual identity. The colour enhances Diriyah's presence on the world stage, reflecting its historical and cultural status.
Pantone Color Institute vice president Laurie Pressman emphasised the role of colour and design in shaping experiences. She stated, "By selecting 'Diriyah Tan,’ a rich shade inspired by mud bricks with a warm golden tone, we honour Saudi Arabia’s history while conveying a vision for the future." This colour reflects natural building materials defining Diriyah, highlighting At-Turaif as a global gathering place.
The Pantone team drew inspiration from golden sunlight penetrating clear blue skies onto At-Turaif's iconic mud walls. This new colour serves as a symbol reflecting the lifestyle within the Diriyah project. It is part of the visual identity that inspires visitors and creates an emotional connection to the place.
Historic At-Turaif, which serves as the foundation for Diriyah Tan, was constructed in the 18th century using mud brick and natural materials from Diriyah's environment. This landmark symbolises Saudi Arabia's rich history and was inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 2010.
Preserving Heritage Through Colour
At-Turaif features several palaces and museums showcasing Saudi state's history and legacy. Visitors can embark on a comprehensive journey highlighting Diriyah's heritage. The new colour enhances preservation efforts while promoting Diriyah as a global destination that unites cultures.
"This color reflects the texture and essence of the natural building materials that define Diriyah," Pressman added. It stands as a beacon of education and knowledge, fostering inspiration and empowering youth to become future leaders.
Diriyah Tan presents itself as more than just a colour; it embodies an ambitious vision for preserving history while inspiring future generations. By capturing both past traditions and future aspirations, it strengthens Diriyah's position on the global stage.
