Diriyah Company And City Cool Ink Deal For Energy-Efficient Cooling Plant
In a significant move towards sustainable development, The Diriyah Company has entered into a strategic infrastructure agreement with City Cool Cooling Company, marking a pivotal moment in the advancement of the Diriyah project. This collaboration is set to introduce a district cooling plant alongside a comprehensive distribution network, designed to deliver an impressive cooling capacity of 72,500 Tons of Refrigeration (TR). This initiative is not only aimed at meeting the cooling demands of all non-residential assets within the first phase of the Diriyah project but also sets a new standard for energy efficiency within the Kingdom, boasting an energy efficiency rating of 0.7 KW/TR.
Valued at SAR700 million, this partnership underscores Diriyah Company’s commitment to strategic investment and partnership efforts across various sectors. The agreement follows a 25-year Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) model, ensuring that the completed infrastructure will be transferred back to Diriyah Company upon completion. Jerry Inzerillo, GCEO of Diriyah Company, highlighted the company's dedication to fostering solutions that enhance life quality while prioritizing environmental sustainability. This includes efforts to minimize carbon footprints through energy-efficient practices, reduced water consumption, and overall quality of life improvements.

Abdulsalam Al Mobayed, CEO of City Cool, expressed honor in contributing to the Diriyah project, emphasizing the alignment with Vision 2030's goals for environmental responsibility and support for giga projects in Saudi Arabia. The partnership is one of the largest contracts signed by Diriyah Company, further establishing its role as a dynamic mixed-use developer focused on transforming Diriyah into a capital of culture, entertainment, education, and arts.
At the heart of this development is the UNESCO World Heritage Site of At-Turaif, symbolizing the link between Saudi Arabia’s rich past and its promising future. This site serves as a beacon of inspiration for creatives, innovators, entrepreneurs, and educators alike. City Cool Cooling Company, a subsidiary of Mada International Holding and holding a 90% share in the project, alongside ADC Energy Systems will construct this state-of-the-art district cooling plant. The design and construction will adhere to international standards for sustainable green buildings and modern urban development, ensuring harmony with Diriyah’s architectural identity and surrounding environment.
This collaboration between The Diriyah Company and City Cool Cooling Company represents a forward-thinking approach to urban planning and development. By focusing on sustainable solutions and energy efficiency, this partnership not only supports Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 but also sets a new benchmark for infrastructure projects in the region.
