Diriyah Company Awards $1.13 Billion Construction Contract For King Saud University Relocation Project

Diriyah Company has awarded a substantial $1.13 billion (SAR4.225 billion) contract for relocating King Saud University's utilities and administration offices within the Diriyah masterplan. The joint venture between China Railway Construction Corporation Limited Saudi Branch and China Railway Construction Group Central Plain Construction Co. Ltd. (CRCCSA & CRCGCPC) secured this significant project.

The contract encompasses various construction tasks, including designing and relocating KSU's utilities and administration offices. It also involves building a district cooling plant, water storage facilities, a sewage treatment plant, an LPG/SNG plant, a diesel transfer pumping station, a utility tunnel, irrigation water storage tanks, office buildings, warehouses, and maintenance workshops.

Diriyah is an expansive urban development project supported by the Public Investment Fund. Once completed, it aims to house nearly 100,000 residents and provide office space for numerous professionals in technology, media, arts, and education sectors. The project is expected to create approximately 178,000 jobs and attract nearly 50 million visitors annually.

Jerry Inzerillo, CEO of Diriyah Company Group, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration with King Saud University. He stated: "We are delighted to announce this major contract to support King Saud University, whose campus adjoins the Diriyah development area. This agreement marks yet another important step in aligning our efforts to advance educational and infrastructural excellence in the Kingdom."

The Diriyah project is anticipated to contribute around $18.6 billion (SAR70 billion) directly to Saudi Arabia's GDP. This contract adds to the series of large-scale awards by Diriyah Company as the "City of Earth" continues its development across 14 square kilometers.

Li ChongYang, Chairman of China Railway Construction International Group Co., remarked on their involvement: "We are honored to collaborate with Diriyah Company on this significant and unique development. Future Developments in Diriyah

In addition to this contract, Diriyah Company plans further developments within the same area in the future. Since early 2025, the total value of contracts awarded by Diriyah Company has exceeded $2.9 billion.

This collaboration highlights a commitment to enhancing infrastructure services that will benefit both students at King Saud University and the broader community. The partnership aims to support one of Saudi Arabia's leading academic institutions in achieving infrastructural excellence.
