Diriyah Commemorates The 94th Saudi National Day With Vibrant Cultural Events And Activities

The Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) marked the 94th Saudi National Day with a series of engaging events. These activities celebrated Saudi Arabia's rich heritage and aimed to foster national unity. The celebrations honoured King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud, the founder of modern Saudi Arabia, highlighting Diriyah's significance as a cultural and historical symbol.

At-Turaif, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, became a lively centre for cultural activities. Visitors enjoyed traditional Samri and Saudi Ardah performances, along with live poetry readings. In partnership with the King Abdulaziz Foundation (Darah), historical sessions were held, exploring the Kingdom's unification history and King Abdulaziz's remarkable character.

Bujairi Terrace offered an exhibition on King Abdulaziz, blending history with technology through storytelling. An "Interactive Palm Tree" display added a digital twist; it grew with each post shared using a specific hashtag on the X platform. The top 10 interactive posts were rewarded with valuable prizes.

Diriyah's gardens, Al-Faisaliah and Al-Khalidiyah, hosted various educational and entertaining events for all ages. These events catered to both residents and visitors, providing diverse experiences that combined learning with enjoyment.

The streets of Diriyah featured a military parade with 1,000 personnel from different sectors marching through. This was complemented by impressive equestrian displays involving camel and horse riders. Two floats adorned with Ardah performers added to the festive atmosphere.

A standout feature of the celebration was an exclusive performance by the largest orchestra of its kind. It involved 500 Amazon Echo devices and Alexa in a unique blend of tradition and technology. The performance included the Saudi National anthem and songs from Saudi Arabia’s rich heritage.

Celebration Duration

The festivities commemorating the 94th Saudi National Day in Diriyah spanned four days, concluding on September 23. These events not only celebrated national pride but also showcased Saudi Arabia's cultural richness to both locals and visitors alike.
