Diriyah Art Futures Enriches Visitors With Diverse Programming Featuring AI And Art Workshops

Diriyah Art Futures (DAF) is hosting a series of events this December as part of its first exhibition, 'Art Must Be Artificial: Perspectives of AI in the Visual Arts.' The programme includes DAF Weekenders, featuring workshops and lectures by renowned artists and scholars. These events aim to explore the intersection of art, science, and technology.

DAF is a pioneering institution in the region, dedicated to new media and digital arts. It serves as a hub for collaboration and innovation among creative practitioners worldwide. Developed by the Museums Commission, it focuses on research, documentation, and creating new work.

Diverse Programming at Diriyah Art Futures

On December 20, Louis-Philippe Demers will lead a "Staging Robots" dialogue session. As an AI and robotics artist, he will discuss the evolving relationship between humans and machines in performance art. This session promises to offer valuable insights into robotics' role in artistic expression.

Demers will also conduct a two-day masterclass on "Creative Robotics" on December 20 and 21. Participants will learn about robotic arts and how to create puppet-avatars that can be animated and controlled. This hands-on experience aims to deepen understanding of robotics in art.

Saudi artist Lulwah Al-Homoud will present her unique approach to art on December 21 during the "Immersive Geometries" session. Her work draws inspiration from mathematics, geometry, and Islamic art. Al-Homoud's session will provide insights into her creative process and artistic vision.

Last week, Nasser Alshemimry conducted a three-day workshop on "Visual Programming." Participants were introduced to new media and digital art concepts, including computer-based graphics and real-time graphics processing. This workshop aimed to expand participants' skills in digital art creation.

The Impact of Virtual Worlds

Art historian Leonardo Dellanoce explored virtual worlds' impact during the "Inside the Mirror" session. He challenged attendees to rethink how technology influences human perception of reality through discussions on the metaverse's role in shaping experiences.

DAF continues to drive interdisciplinary creative practices at the intersection of art, science, and technology. By offering diverse programming like these sessions, DAF fosters an environment where artists can collaborate, speculate, and produce innovative work.
