Saudi Arabia celebrates World Statistics Day on October 20, aligning with global observances. The 2025 theme, "Driving Change with Quality Statistics and Data for Everyone," marks the UN's 80th anniversary. This highlights the importance of reliable data in fostering global progress and sustainable development. The Kingdom showcases its advancements in statistics, adopting international systems to boost public trust in official data both nationally and globally.

The Kingdom's statistical sector is pivotal in managing data production, research, and studies. Led by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT), it is supported by a network of statistical centres within government and private sectors. GASTAT offers services through a comprehensive digital database, providing accessible and transparent information to aid evidence-based decisions and national growth.

Saudi Arabia Marks World Statistics Day 2023

Under the leadership of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Saudi Arabia has developed a modern statistical ecosystem. This system is marked by advanced technologies and frameworks. The Cabinet's approval of a new statistical system has enabled GASTAT to achieve significant milestones, establishing it as the primary source of statistical data in the Kingdom.

Saudi Arabia's achievements include being elected as co-chair of the United Nations on Data Governance Working Group. It also holds membership in the High-Level Group for Partnership, Coordination, and Capacity-Building for Statistics for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (HLG-PCCB). Furthermore, it has made notable progress in the 2024 Open Data Inventory Report.

The Kingdom will host the Sixth United Nations World Data Forum in Riyadh in November 2026. This event underscores Saudi Arabia's leadership role in global statistical bodies. These accomplishments reflect its commitment to advancing international indicators and contributing to global data governance efforts.

GASTAT’s extensive digital database includes diverse data, indicators, and statistics across multiple sectors. Available in various formats, this ensures clients can access reliable information that supports informed decision-making. The Kingdom continues to enhance its statistical capabilities to support national development goals.

Saudi Arabia’s commitment to quality statistics is evident through its adoption of international methodologies. These efforts aim to increase public awareness and confidence in official statistics at both national and international levels. By embracing these practices, Saudi Arabia strengthens its position as a leader in the field of statistics.
