Digital School Initiative To Benefit 100,000 Students In Iraqi Kurdistan
The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives has embarked on an enhanced collaboration with the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government, focusing on the expansion of digital education through its Digital School initiative. This partnership aims to deliver advanced digital educational services and methodologies to 100,000 students over the next three years. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed to mark the beginning of this new phase, with ambitions to extend the school's innovative solutions globally. Dubai Cares supports this initiative, which includes training for digital teachers, development of a digital education platform in Kurdish, conversion of the regional curriculum into interactive digital formats, and the creation of digital education spaces within schools. Additionally, it will provide essential digital education tools like computers and projectors to foster effective learning environments.
Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Digital School, underscored the UAE leadership's commitment to enhancing cooperation with governments worldwide. He stressed the importance of equipping students with digital skills and modern technologies to improve their future prospects. The launch aims to build on the successes of the initial phase that started in January 2022 and to broaden partnership frameworks.
Alan Hama Saeed Saleh, Minister of Education in the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government, highlighted the initiative's focus on providing students in Kurdistan with a comprehensive future education experience. Saleh emphasized skill development and continuous learning as priorities and expressed hope for further advancements in establishing a future digital educational system in Kurdistan.
Commitment to Digital Education
Dr. Tariq Al Gurg, CEO and Vice Chairman of Dubai Cares, expressed dedication to offering quality education and spreading digital skills among children and youth. This initiative is seen as a way to enable the next generation to achieve academic success and make positive contributions within their communities.
The first phase of this partnership saw the implementation of digital education programs, teacher training initiatives, and the establishment of digital education centers across over 14 schools, benefiting approximately 4,400 students. The Digital School initiative, launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aims at providing accessible digital learning options in regions lacking necessary educational resources. Currently serving over 160,000 students in more than 13 countries, it has trained over 2,500 digital teachers. The educational content is available in four languages: Arabic, English, French, and Spanish.
This strategic partnership between the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives and the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government through the Digital School initiative represents a significant step forward in leveraging technology to enhance educational opportunities for students globally.
