Digital Governance Of Iftar At Prophets Mosque Enhances Transparency And Efficiency

Iftar meals at the Prophet's Mosque are run through a detailed system that highlights strict governance and careful planning. This organisation supports large numbers of fasting visitors during Ramadan and is designed to keep services safe, fair, and clearly managed for all participants.

When the Iftar tables are laid out in straight lines, their combined length reaches about 70 kilometres. This measurement shows the scale of hospitality offered in Madinah and the effort required to coordinate food distribution within the Prophet's Mosque each day of Ramadan.

Digital Iftar Governance at Prophets Mosque

The approach to managing Iftar meals has changed over time. In earlier years, approved providers brought items such as dates, bread, and yogurt directly. The current model relies on an integrated governance system using the Ehsan and Nusuk platforms, which supports clear procedures and monitored delivery.

The process starts online through nonprofit organisations linked to the website of the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque. Individuals register their support, then pay the required fees using the Ehsan platform, which records each donor’s contribution as specific meal packages.

Each donor payment equals one meal package, with a choice between 25 or 50 meals. Nonprofit organisations can also register allocations of 10 meals for men and 10 meals for women. These allocations are planned in advance to keep seating and service balanced across different areas.

After selecting the location and number of meals, donors or organisations complete payment by transferring funds to Nusuk Humanitarian Foundation. The foundation then manages contracts with service providers or organising bodies, confirming responsibilities for preparing and serving each approved Iftar meal package.

Nusuk Humanitarian Foundation issues the final permits once preparations meet the agreed quality and organisational standards. This step ensures that food reaches those fasting in a controlled manner. The system reflects an advanced level of service management in Madinah, strengthening governance of charitable work and improving operational efficiency across the Prophet's Mosque.

The overall framework supports organised and secure Iftar meals for worshippers and visitors throughout Ramadan. According to SPA, these arrangements highlight structured charitable activity in the Prophet's Mosque, with local time for the report recorded at 23:17 and 20:17 GMT under reference number 0061, documenting the current operational model.
