DGDA And MWAN Collaborate To Enhance Sustainability Efforts In Diriyah

The Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) and the National Center for Waste Management (MWAN) have formalised a partnership to boost waste management efforts. This collaboration aims to support environmental sustainability and increase public awareness in DGDA's jurisdiction. The initiative seeks to transform Diriyah into a global cultural and tourist hub, targeting over 50 million visits annually by 2030.

The agreement, signed by DGDA CEO Jerry Inzerillo and MWAN CEO Dr. Abdullah bin Faisal Alsebaei, aligns with Saudi Vision 2030. This vision focuses on unifying efforts to protect the environment, achieve sustainability, and improve life quality. The partnership will also pilot a model neighbourhood in Diriyah focused on sustainability.

DGDA and MWAN Join Forces for Sustainability

Diriyah's new model neighbourhood will introduce waste separation at the source within residential areas. It will also focus on recycling construction and demolition waste during project execution. These efforts aim to reduce waste generation, supporting sustainability and advancing a circular economy.

MWAN will assist DGDA by providing access to qualified service providers and licensed facilities related to waste management. They will also help clarify terms and regulations of the waste management system. This collaboration is expected to enhance institutional performance through improved decision-making.

The partnership reflects DGDA’s commitment to sustainable development in Diriyah. It underscores MWAN’s dedication to regulating the waste management sector across Saudi Arabia. By exchanging environmental data and statistics, both parties aim to improve waste management practices and regulations.

At-Turaif District, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Diriyah, is central to this development project. It stands as an architectural masterpiece representing the scientific and cultural progress of the first Saudi State. The district embodies a pioneering vision for sustainable practices.

This strategic cooperation between DGDA and MWAN highlights their shared goal of enhancing environmental sustainability throughout the Kingdom. By working together, they aim to create a cleaner, more sustainable future for Diriyah and beyond.
