DGDA Launches Initiative To Chronicle Diriyah Club's Historical Journey
The Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) has embarked on a project to document the rich history of the Diriyah Club through its oral history program. This initiative includes interviews with officials, players, and former club presidents. The goal is to capture and preserve stories and oral narratives from the club's community that are not easily found in traditional sources.
This documentation effort is part of a broader oral history project initiated by DGDA in 2020. The project aims to record various aspects of Diriyah's history through multiple programs. These include documenting the Oral History of Women in Diriyah, the Saudi Ardha, the Historical Districts of Diriyah, and DGDA Employees. The primary aim is to safeguard historical narratives and foster greater public awareness and understanding.

DGDA has conducted over 20 interviews with former presidents, coaches, and players of the Diriyah Club. These interviews cover the club's founding story, efforts made, and support received from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz during his tenure as Governor of Riyadh. The documentation also includes biographies of key presidents and coaches, detailing their contributions to the club.
The comprehensive oral history project seeks to support researchers by providing unique insights into Diriyah's past. It aims to enhance research perspectives while showcasing Diriyah's cultural and civilizational heritage to a wider audience. By recording these narratives, DGDA hopes to enrich historical knowledge that may otherwise be lost.
The initiative also documents the main achievements of the Diriyah Club since its establishment. It covers the evolution of its administrative and technical framework along with details about former and current team members. This information will be accessible to researchers and enthusiasts interested in learning more about the club's history.
DGDA stated in a news release that this initiative will enable researchers and enthusiasts to access recorded interviews for unique insights into the club’s past. The project represents a collaborative effort involving various stakeholders committed to preserving Diriyah’s multifaceted history.
The broader oral history project includes several programs aimed at documenting different facets of Diriyah’s history. These efforts are crucial for fostering greater awareness among the public about Diriyah’s rich cultural heritage.
This initiative by DGDA highlights its commitment to preserving historical narratives through comprehensive documentation efforts. By capturing these stories, DGDA ensures that valuable information from the club's community is preserved for future generations.
