Dubai Financial Market And SIX Forge Partnership For Market Accessibility

The Dubai Financial Market (DFM) and the Swiss Financial Market Infrastructure Group, SIX, have recently inked a collaboration agreement, marking a significant step towards mutual growth and innovation in the financial sector. This partnership was announced during the second edition of the Capital Market Summit, highlighting a concerted effort to explore and implement dual/cross-listing opportunities, share best practices, and exchange market data. The initiative not only aims to simplify the share transfer process between exchanges but also seeks to enhance market access and investment opportunities across both regions.

Integral to this strategic alliance are the Dubai Central Securities Depository LLC (Dubai CSD) and Dubai Clear LLC, operating under the DFM umbrella. These entities will collaborate with SIX on establishing Central Securities Depository (CSD) links, a move designed to facilitate share fungibility and cross-border transfers. The agreement was formalized in the presence of key figures from both organizations, including Bjørn Sibbern, Global Head Exchanges at SIX, and Hamed Ali, CEO of DFM and Nasdaq Dubai.

DFM-SIX Strategic Financial Partnership

Hamed Ali expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, "The strategic partnership between DFM and SIX exemplifies our shared commitment to driving innovation and fostering growth in the global financial landscape." He further emphasized the goal of unlocking new opportunities, enhancing market efficiency, and strengthening ties between their financial ecosystems.

Bjørn Sibbern echoed this sentiment, highlighting SIX's continuous effort to expand its international product and service range. He noted, "With the collaboration with Dubai Financial Markets, we are excited to look at broadening the options of companies to raise capital and tap into additional, deep pools of capital as well as facilitating cross border transfers and share fungibility."

The collaboration extends beyond facilitating share transfers; it encompasses introducing companies and issuers to the benefits of each market. This approach aims to provide access to growth opportunities and services while identifying potential areas for cooperation in market data and post-trade services. Through these efforts, DFM and SIX are set on driving innovation and fostering development within their respective markets.

This partnership represents a strategic move towards enhancing the global financial landscape by simplifying investment processes and broadening market access. It underscores a shared vision for innovation, growth, and strengthened international ties between the UAE and Swiss financial markets.
