Dewa Highlights Sustainability And Renewable Energy At World Future Energy Summit 2026

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is using the World Future Energy Summit 2026 to present major projects in clean and renewable energy, smart water and electricity systems, and advanced digital technologies. Hosted by Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar), the event at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) runs from 13th to 15th January 2026.

DEWA’s presence at Hall 5 (Energy Hall) underlines its role in promoting sustainable innovation in the UAE. The authority showcases initiatives that support national strategies, while also highlighting how smart grids, efficient water management and digital platforms are shaping the region’s future energy landscape for residents, industry and government stakeholders.

A centrepiece at DEWA’s stand is a detailed model of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which is described as the largest single-site solar park worldwide operating under the independent power producer model. The facility’s current production capacity stands at 3,860MW and is scheduled to surpass 8,000MW by 2030.

The expansion plan for the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park raises its 2030 capacity target from 5,000MW to more than 8,000MW, an increase of 60 percent. This scale-up supports the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 Strategy, the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050.

Clean energy now provides over 21.5 percent of DEWA’s total generation capacity. This share is forecast to reach 36 percent by 2030, compared with an earlier goal of 25 percent. The planned mix will help avoid more than 8.5 million tonnes of carbon emissions each year, supporting national climate objectives.

Within the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, DEWA operates the Sustainability and Innovation Centre, which functions as a global hub for research, outreach and skills development in clean and renewable energy. The centre follows a multi-level approach that links interactive exhibits, educational content and specialised professional training programmes.

The Sustainability and Innovation Centre acts as a platform where experts, students and professionals access accredited courses and innovation initiatives in sustainability. The facility is designed to strengthen leadership capabilities in clean and renewable energy, and it also supports efforts to equip Emiratis with the knowledge and practical skills needed for future roles in the renewable energy sector.

DEWA’s Research and Development Centre at the solar park focuses on solar technologies, smart grid integration, energy efficiency and water. The centre has registered 64 patents so far, with 18 already granted. These patents span concentrated solar power, electric vehicles, energy storage, robotics, unmanned aerial vehicles, 3D printing, and data-driven solutions for energy and water efficiency.

Another key feature on display is a model of Al Shera’a, DEWA’s upcoming headquarters in Al Jaddaf, which is planned as a net-positive government building. Al Shera’a is designed to attain a Platinum rating under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design system and a gold rating under the WELL Building Standard.

Al Shera’a will integrate an advanced technological ecosystem that uses Internet of Things networks, Big Data analytics and artificial intelligence. These systems will work alongside renewable energy solutions on-site to maximise efficiency. The design aims to make the building the tallest, largest and smartest net-positive government facility of its kind worldwide.

DEWA’s EV Green Charger initiative, launched in 2014, is presented as the first public charging infrastructure network for electric vehicles in the region. DEWA now manages more than 1,700 charging points across Dubai, including units installed through partnerships with public and private entities, and offers ultra-fast, fast, public and wall-box chargers for different user needs.

Moro Hub, part of Digital DEWA, is using the World Future Energy Summit 2026 platform to demonstrate an integrated security system based on AI-powered visual analytics, which supports advanced, real-time threat detection. Moro is also presenting cloud computing and Green Data Centre services that are intended to reduce carbon footprint and is participating in the FUSE AI platform to showcase services that support smart and sustainable digital transformation for organisations.

Through its projects at the World Future Energy Summit 2026, DEWA outlines how large-scale solar generation, green buildings, research hubs, electric vehicle charging and digital platforms contribute to national clean energy goals. The exhibits collectively illustrate how UAE-led initiatives in energy and water are aligned with long-term strategies for net zero targets by 2050.
