DEWA Fosters A Culture Of Volunteering To Serve Society Through Organisational Framework
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has made significant strides in fostering a culture of volunteering among its workforce, aiming to bolster the UAE and Dubai's integrated and sustainable volunteering ecosystem. From 2013 to 2023, DEWA launched an impressive 438 social initiatives, with its employees dedicating a total of 232,973 volunteer hours to humanitarian and community initiatives across the globe. This effort underscores DEWA's commitment to enhancing social development and elevating volunteering as a core human value.
DEWA's innovative iVolunteer programs serve as a platform for employees to engage with various volunteering initiatives and earn points for their contributions. Further enriching this experience, DEWA offers a Volunteer Diploma designed to refine participants' skills in volunteer work and equip them to oversee volunteering programs worldwide. In 2023, these initiatives have culminated in a remarkable satisfaction rate of 93.55% among the community, reflecting the positive impact of DEWA's efforts on promoting volunteering and social cohesion.

Among DEWA's notable CSR milestones in 2023 is the Meer Al Khair Initiative, executed in collaboration with Al Ihsan Charity Association. This initiative focused on providing essential support and food items to needy families during Ramadan, with DEWA employees contributing 380 boxes of in-kind goods and food items. Additionally, DEWA played a pivotal role in the Ramadan Aman Campaign by distributing 200,000 Iftar meals to drivers during Ramadan, in partnership with Al Ihsan Charity Association, traffic, and police departments.
DEWA's engagement extended to the COP28 event, where several employees volunteered to assist guests and respond to their inquiries. The organization also took part in the Determined Hands Initiative, distributing Iftar meals to road users and drivers at traffic signals. In a significant contribution to the Senses Residential and Day Care for Special Needs, DEWA sponsored a sports treatment hall equipped with rehabilitation tools for children with determination.
Further demonstrating its commitment to community support, DEWA contributed to the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority's "Clothes for Good" initiative by donating 200 uniforms for transformation into wearable attire for those in need. The "DYOD: Donate Your Own Device" campaign saw DEWA donating over 100 used electronic devices to aid underprivileged students of the Digital School. Additionally, DEWA employees volunteered to provide school bags, stationary, and tablets/iPads for students with limited income, orphans, and students with determination through collaborations with public welfare associations.
DEWA's dedication to fostering a culture of volunteering and social cohesion is aligned with the vision and directives of Dubai's wise leadership.
