DEWA And Masdar Sign Three-Year Agreement To Enhance Global Sustainability Efforts

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC – Masdar have entered a three-year agreement. This collaboration aims to support Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) and the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX). The agreement was signed by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, and Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, CEO of Masdar.

The partnership designates DEWA as the ADSW Summit Partner and Masdar as the Principal Sponsor for WETEX. This strategic alliance seeks to accelerate global energy transformation and promote sustainable development in the UAE and beyond. It aligns with the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative and Dubai's goal to achieve 100% clean energy power capacity by 2050.

DEWA and Masdar Strengthen Sustainability Partnership

Al Tayer highlighted the significance of this partnership, stating, "In line with the directives of the UAE leadership, we continually seek to strengthen partnership and co-operation with Masdar, and to share the best global experiences and practices in promoting sustainable development. This agreement reinforces the strong ties between DEWA and Masdar and our aligned vision for a sustainable future."

He further noted that DEWA's role as ADSW Summit Partner underscores its commitment to supporting one of the world's largest sustainability gatherings. This collaboration enhances the UAE’s position in developing the global energy sector while promoting green economy initiatives across environmental, social, and economic dimensions.

Al Ramahi expressed enthusiasm about continuing their longstanding partnership with DEWA. He stated, "This agreement builds on our longstanding and powerful partnership with DEWA, who we are working alongside to deliver some of the UAE’s most significant clean energy projects." He emphasised that organisations like Masdar and DEWA must lead decisively in transforming the global energy sector.

Masdar's role as Principal Sponsor for WETEX is pivotal. The event gathers industry leaders to tackle pressing sustainability challenges worldwide. Al Ramahi also looks forward to DEWA’s contributions as ADSW Summit Partner, enriching discussions on this critical platform.

Enhancing Global Platforms

This partnership aims to enhance ADSW's content, reach, and impact along with WETEX. It encourages collaboration between public and private sectors while driving investment in renewable energy technologies. Both events serve as platforms for sharing experiences, exploring new technologies, and identifying investment opportunities in clean energy across MENA.

The collaboration between DEWA and Masdar strengthens their shared vision for a sustainable future. By combining expertise and resources, they aim to make a significant impact on global sustainability efforts while reinforcing UAE's leadership in energy transformation.
