DEWA And IBM Collaborate To Enhance Co-operation In Artificial Intelligence And Cyber Security Solutions

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), recently hosted a meeting with a delegation from IBM. The group was led by Ana Paula De Jesus Assis, Senior Vice President and Chair of IBM EMEA. Their discussions centred on enhancing collaboration in digital transformation, AI, and cybersecurity to support Dubai's goal of establishing a knowledge-based digital economy.

Al Tayer emphasised DEWA's commitment to strengthening partnerships with global tech leaders like IBM. This aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda ‘D33’, which aims to position Dubai among the top digital economies globally. DEWA is focused on adopting cutting-edge cybersecurity and AI solutions to achieve this vision.

DEWA and IBM Enhance AI and Cyber Security Co-operation

During the meeting, Al Tayer highlighted DEWA’s initiatives to become the first AI-native utility worldwide. The organisation plans to integrate AI technologies into all its core operations. This transformation is part of DEWA's strategy to build a sustainable future driven by innovation and knowledge.

The meeting included key figures from DEWA such as Marwan Bin Haidar, Executive Vice President of Innovation and the Future; Waleed bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence; Mohammed Bin Sulaiman, CEO of Moro Hub; and Moza Alshamsi, Chief Information Security Officer.

Moro Hub, a subsidiary of Digital DEWA, has adopted IBM’s advanced QRadar system. This system enhances the security of its digital services within its Cybersecurity Operations Centre. As an IBM-certified Managed Services Partner, Moro offers Security Operations Centre as a Service solutions. These services help customers respond quickly to cyber threats while ensuring continuous preventive monitoring.

Discussions are ongoing about expanding cooperation to include AI applications through the IBM Watson platform. This expansion aims to improve operational efficiency, enhance customer experiences, and accelerate smart transformation across various sectors.

The collaboration between DEWA and IBM reflects a shared commitment to leveraging technology for economic growth. By focusing on digital transformation and cybersecurity, both organisations aim to contribute significantly to Dubai's vision for a knowledge-driven economy.
