DEWA Recognised For Digital Leadership With Innovative Transformation Award

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has been honoured with the ‘Most Innovative Digital Transformation’ award by the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs. This accolade recognises DEWA's exceptional achievements in innovation and digital transformation, particularly for its advanced digital power transmission substation. This initiative significantly reduces energy waste and lowers carbon emissions.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, expressed his delight at receiving the award. He highlighted that this recognition underscores innovations that enhance government excellence by offering sustainable solutions to current and future challenges. These innovations transform challenges into opportunities for growth and development.

Al Tayer emphasised the importance of innovation in achieving national goals. "Thanks to the wise directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the culture of innovation has become a way of life and work approach for individuals and institutions in the government and private sectors. It enhances efficiency and accelerates the achievement of national goals, driving digital transformation and sustainable development," he stated.

Hussain Lootah, Executive Vice President of Transmission Power at DEWA, accepted the award on behalf of Al Tayer. The innovative 132/11 kV power substations have reduced construction time by 15% while cutting initial costs by AED 2.7 million per substation. This efficiency is achieved through a more compact building design.

The new substations have also made significant environmental contributions. Each one has reduced carbon emissions by 386 tonnes due to its compact design. Additionally, they eliminate over 54 tonnes of carbon emissions annually by conserving energy, thereby improving operational efficiency.

Al Tayer further explained DEWA's commitment to sustainability: "In line with the National Strategy for Advanced Innovation, DEWA provides a work environment that fosters innovation, and provides all the facilities and tools that will transform innovative ideas into reality, specifically in the field of sustainability, and clean and renewable energy.
