DEWA Highlights Innovative Green Mobility Projects At ITS World Congress 2024 In Dubai

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is a Main Sponsor at the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) World Congress 2024. This event, hosted by Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), runs until 20th September. DEWA is presenting its leading green mobility projects, particularly the Electric Vehicle (EV) Green Charger initiative. This initiative supports sustainable transport by offering top-notch EV charging infrastructure.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, emphasised that hosting the ITS World Congress in Dubai highlights the Emirate’s global standing in smart mobility. It also showcases its leadership in adopting cutting-edge technologies from the Fourth Industrial Revolution. These include the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and Big Data. The focus is on expanding electrical technologies in transport, aligning with the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030.

DEWA Showcases Green Mobility at ITS Congress

Al Tayer stated, "We strive to support the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy, which sets several energy targets for 2033, including expanding the network of electric vehicle charging stations across the Emirate." DEWA's initiatives aim to cut carbon emissions in transport, aligning with both the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050.

EV Green Charger Initiative Development

At the ITS World Congress, DEWA showcases its efforts to enhance the EV Green Charger Initiative. This includes introducing an "EV Green Charger User Dashboard." Registered customers can track their charging and consumption data via DEWA’s website or app. The dashboard offers a comprehensive record of bill payments, consumption details, charging transactions, and dates.

Launched in 2014, DEWA’s EV Green Charger initiative was the first public electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the region. It has significantly contributed to developing a network of over 700 charging stations across Dubai. More than 400 of these are Green Charging Stations operated by DEWA.

The initiative has also boosted electric vehicle numbers to over 30,000 in Dubai. This figure is expected to double soon. Customers can manage multiple EV Green Charger cards through the dashboard, pay bills, and find nearby available chargers.

DEWA's participation underscores its commitment to sustainable transport solutions. By advancing green mobility projects like the EV Green Charger initiative, DEWA plays a crucial role in reducing carbon emissions and promoting clean energy use within Dubai's transport sector.
