DEWA Explores Artificial Intelligence Solutions For Workforce Productivity And Smart Buildings At Microsoft Headquarters
A delegation from Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), led by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, visited Microsoft headquarters in Los Angeles. The visit aimed to explore how artificial intelligence (AI) can enhance workforce productivity and smart infrastructure. Al Tayer was joined by several DEWA executives, including Hussain Lootah, Marwan bin Haider, Waleed bin Salman, Loh Lim Huat, Ghanem Al Qassim, and Humaid Al Hammadi.
During the meeting with Microsoft executives Rajmohan Rajagopalan and Ricardo Villalobos, discussions centred on using AI to empower DEWA's workforce and develop smart building solutions. These initiatives align with DEWA’s focus on digital innovation and sustainable infrastructure. Earlier this year, DEWA became the first UAE government entity to adopt Microsoft 365 Copilot and Microsoft Security Copilot for its employees.

The adoption of Microsoft’s advanced AI tools is part of DEWA’s strategy to boost efficiency and productivity through innovation. By integrating these technologies, DEWA aims to improve operational quality while staying at the forefront of digital transformation. This move also positions DEWA among the first utilities worldwide to implement Microsoft's Copilot technology.
Microsoft demonstrated the capabilities of its 365 Copilot tool during the visit. This AI-driven solution is designed to automate tasks and enhance daily operations within organisations. The discussions also included Microsoft's AI-powered smart building solutions that focus on optimising energy use and promoting sustainable environments.
Al Tayer highlighted DEWA's dedication to adopting cutting-edge technologies for operational excellence and environmental sustainability. "DEWA is dedicated to adopting the latest digital solutions, including AI, to maintain our position as a globally leading sustainable and innovative utility while contributing to Dubai’s vision as a smart and sustainable city. Our collaboration with Microsoft supports this mission and unlocks new technological advancements that will benefit our workforce and customers alike," Al Tayer added.
The collaboration with Microsoft aligns with DEWA's vision of advancing sustainability, innovation, and smart city development in Dubai. By leveraging AI technologies, DEWA aims to enhance customer satisfaction while contributing to Dubai's goals as a smart city.
This strategic partnership underscores DEWA's commitment to maintaining its leadership in sustainability and innovation within the utility sector. Through these efforts, DEWA continues to support Dubai's aspirations for becoming a leading smart city globally.
