DEWA Showcases Innovative AI Initiatives At Dubai AI Week 2025 To Support Global Hub Vision

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is playing a strategic role in Dubai AI Week 2025, aligning with Dubai's ambition to become a global leader in artificial intelligence (AI). The event, held from 21st to 25th April 2025, is under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. It is organised by the Dubai Future Foundation and the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence.

During the AI Retreat at the Museum of the Future, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, joined other officials and global leaders. This retreat aims to speed up AI adoption across key sectors by bringing together tech giants, decision-makers, and experts from both government and private sectors.

This year's discussions centred on four main themes: digital infrastructure for AI; governance, policy and data frameworks; AI-driven economic growth; and education, talent and cultural identity. These discussions aim to update policies and legislation while exploring opportunities offered by AI applications to enhance their impact in vital sectors.

DEWA is showcasing its significant AI initiatives during Dubai AI Week. This includes a strategic road map launched earlier this year to become the world’s first AI-native utility by integrating AI into all core operations. "In line with the proactive vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum... we are integrating AI technologies into DEWA’s electricity and water production," said Al Tayer.

Al Tayer highlighted DEWA's robust infrastructure in electricity and water networks, ranking first globally in 12 key performance indicators. The activities during Dubai AI Week provide an opportunity to exchange knowledge, highlight visions within this sector, and advance the UAE's AI scene according to the UAE Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031.

DEWA is also emphasising its use of computer-using agents like Rammas, its virtual employee supported by AI and ChatGPT. This reflects DEWA’s commitment to enhancing digital services through emerging technologies. These agents improve operational efficiency and accelerate digital processes for customers.

Promoting Smart Solutions

At Area 2071, hosting the Dubai Assembly for AI event, DEWA showcases its AI strategy alongside change management plans. It participates in interactive sessions exploring cooperation between Moro Hub—a subsidiary of Digital DEWA—and strategic partners to promote smart solutions that support sustainable development.

Additionally, DEWA Academy is involved in the AI Week in Schools event with the Knowledge and Human Development Authority. This initiative introduces pupils and teachers to AI concepts, tools, and applications. It aims to equip them with basic skills necessary for an AI-powered future while fostering innovation among Dubai's youth.

The participation of DEWA as a strategic partner underscores its dedication to supporting Dubai's vision for an advanced future city powered by artificial intelligence. Through these initiatives, DEWA contributes significantly towards building a sustainable digital infrastructure that aligns with national strategies.
