Hail's Deputy Governor Unveils Trail To Historic Hatem Al-Tai Lighthouse

The Deputy Governor of Hail Region, Prince Faisal bin Fahd bin Muqrin bin Abdulaziz, recently inaugurated the first hiking trail in the region. This trail leads to the historic and tourist attraction of Hatem Al-Tai's lighthouse, located at the summit of Mount Al Samra in Hail city, which stands at an altitude of 1,170 meters. The establishment of this trail was meticulously managed by the Saudi Hiking Trails Association (Darb), marking a significant step towards integrating hiking as both a recreational and tourist activity in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

Upon his arrival at Al Samra Park, the deputy governor was welcomed by project investor Ali Al-Fayez, Darb Board of Directors Chairman Dr. Abdullah El-Kuwaiz, among other board members. He engaged with participants from various regions who were setting off on the trail's inaugural journey. The deputy governor received detailed insights into the execution of the trail, which was completed by the Darb association over a span of 22 days. The project features safe pathways offering panoramic views of Hail city, a watercourse, and areas of afforestation, further enhancing Mount Al Samra's transformation into a verdant landscape.

New Hiking Trail to Hatem Al-Tai Lighthouse

As hikers reached the peak of Mount Al Samra, they were regaled with the tale of "Al-Habahib's Fire," associated with the famous lighthouse. This story dates back to the 6th century AD and tells of Hatem Al-Tai's generosity in inviting travelers from afar to find solace and shelter at his residence. The initiative to establish hiking trails across the Kingdom has seen the Darb association successfully set up 15 trails, with Mount Al Samra's trail being a pioneering project for the Hail region.

This development not only promotes outdoor activities but also highlights significant historical and cultural sites within Saudi Arabia, encouraging both domestic and international tourism. The integration of such recreational facilities is a testament to Saudi Arabia's commitment to achieving the objectives outlined in Saudi Vision 2030, aiming for a diversified and sustainable economy while enhancing the quality of life for its residents and visitors alike.
