Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Rassi Represents Saudi Arabia At GCC–ASEAN Ministerial Meeting In Kuala Lumpur

Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Rassi, representing Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, took part in the GCC-ASEAN Ministerial Meeting in Kuala Lumpur. He emphasised Saudi Arabia's dedication to enhancing strategic ties between the GCC and significant regional and international groups. The meeting was attended by several key figures, including the Kingdom's Ambassador to Malaysia, Musaed Al-Saleem.

Dr. Al-Rassi highlighted Saudi Arabia's initiative in hosting the first GCC-ASEAN Summit in Riyadh in October 2023. This summit was followed by a major economic and investment conference planned for May 2024. These events are crucial for strengthening trade relations and encouraging mutual investments between the two regions.

Saudi Arabia at GCC–ASEAN Meeting

The Deputy Minister stressed the importance of maintaining momentum in collaboration efforts between GCC and ASEAN member states. He noted that organising a second summit reflects their shared commitment to advancing these partnerships. The focus is on ensuring effective implementation of summit outcomes over the next two years.

During his address, Dr. Al-Rassi reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's foreign policy principles, particularly its firm stance against violations committed against Palestinians. He expressed gratitude for ASEAN's unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, highlighting this as a significant aspect of their cooperation.

The meeting also included Ambassador at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Haytham Al-Malki and Director of the Gulf Cooperation Council Department Anas Alwasedy. Their presence underscored the importance Saudi Arabia places on these diplomatic engagements and future plans for regional cooperation.

Dr. Al-Rassi reiterated that both regions are committed to accelerating their collaborative efforts. This includes ensuring that agreements reached during summits are effectively implemented within a two-year timeframe, fostering stronger ties and mutual benefits.

The discussions in Kuala Lumpur serve as a testament to Saudi Arabia's ongoing efforts to build strategic alliances with key international blocs. By focusing on economic growth and political cooperation, these meetings aim to create lasting partnerships that benefit all involved parties.
