Deloitte Unveils Reports On Digital Sovereignty And Workforce Transformation At WGS 2025

Deloitte, a prominent global professional services firm, continues its role as the official Knowledge Partner of the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2025 for the 11th year. On the event's first day, Deloitte unveiled two reports focusing on essential aspects of government transformation and capability enhancement.

"As governments navigate an increasingly digital and dynamic world, addressing digital sovereignty and workforce transformation is becoming more critical than ever before," Mutasem Dajani, CEO of Deloitte Middle East, stated.

Deloitte Releases Key Reports at WGS 2025

The initial report, "Sovereignty in AI and Cloud," delves into the vital role of digital sovereignty within cloud computing and artificial intelligence. With an anticipated 149 zettabytes of data being generated by the end of 2024, this report underscores how nations can tackle challenges related to sovereignty. These include data protection, regulatory adherence, algorithmic transparency, and ethical AI standards.

The complexities involved in achieving AI and cloud sovereignty are also discussed. The report highlights balancing cost-effectiveness with scalability and security concerns. It offers insights into sovereign cloud solutions that ensure data remains within national borders while adhering to local regulations.

The second report titled "Driven by Skills: Unlocking the Potential of the Public-Sector Workforce in GCC" examines changing workforce dynamics in the region. Traditional job-based models are transitioning to skills-based workforce development. This shift allows governments to establish more agile, innovative public administration systems that are prepared for future challenges.

This report explores how GCC governments can address workforce issues by enhancing collaboration with private sectors and implementing global best practices. These efforts aim to support national visions amid increasing demands for agile public services.

Muhannad Tayem, Government and Public Services Leader at Deloitte Middle East, said, "As digital transformation accelerates, AI and cloud sovereignty are becoming critical issues for governments worldwide to address. At the same time, the public sector workforce must evolve to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing economy."

Deloitte's reports offer a roadmap for governments aiming to bolster their AI governance structures. They provide guidance on protecting national data assets while developing a resilient and skilled workforce ready for future demands.

Through discussions at WGS 2025, Deloitte seeks to equip policymakers with insights on leveraging emerging technologies. This knowledge aims to help develop robust public sector capabilities that are prepared for future challenges.
