DCO Member States Unite To Enhance Digital Cooperation For Global Prosperity

During the 80th United Nations General Assembly, the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) convened its inaugural high-level dialogue on digital cooperation. The member states issued a joint statement urging global efforts to use digital transformation as a means for peace and prosperity. This initiative aligns with the UN's Global Digital Compact of 2024 and the DCO's roadmap for digital resilience from 2025 to 2028.

The discussions highlighted the necessity of bridging digital divides and fostering collaboration among nations and organizations. Member states committed to supporting innovative digital cooperation models through South-South and Triangular Cooperation. They emphasized aligning national initiatives with shared principles on digital inclusion, responsible innovation, and resilient infrastructure.

DCO Strengthens Digital Cooperation Efforts

To monitor progress and shape policies, representatives underscored the importance of data-driven tools like the Digital Economy Maturity Index. This tool is crucial for assessing advancements in digital transformation across different regions. The commitment to these principles aims to ensure that technology serves as a catalyst for sustainable development and global stability.

The expansion of the UN Group of Friends for Digital Cooperation was also welcomed by member states. Co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, this group is seen as essential for sustaining momentum and enhancing multilateral dialogue at the UN Headquarters. It plays a pivotal role in maintaining focus on digital cooperation initiatives.

This declaration reinforces the DCO's position as a leading entity in promoting multilateral digital cooperation. The organization is dedicated to collaborating closely with the United Nations, international bodies, and partners to create an inclusive, sustainable, and resilient digital future. Such efforts are vital in addressing global challenges through technology.

The unified vision presented by member states aims to harness technology effectively for sustainable development. By working together, they seek to create a stable global environment where technological advancements benefit all societies equally.
