DCO Emphasises Importance Of Global Cooperation For Digital Prosperity At MENA ICT 2024 Forum In Jordan

The Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) highlighted the necessity of international collaboration for digital prosperity at the MENA ICT 2024 Forum in Jordan. The event featured various activities, including investor roundtables, startup pitches, and networking sessions. DCO Secretary General Deemah AlYahya stressed the importance of global multilateralism in achieving a digitally equitable future during a fireside chat.

During the forum, DCO hosted 15 innovative startups as part of its Dealzone initiative. These startups represented diverse sectors such as healthcare, e-commerce, gaming, business management, fintech, AI, robotics, real estate, and edtech. They showcased their solutions and engaged with investors at the DCO pavilion.

DCO Highlights Global Cooperation at MENA ICT Forum

The fireside chat was moderated by former ambassador Karim Kawar, president of Kawar Group. Discussions centered on opportunities and challenges in the MENA region. The critical role of digital infrastructure and emerging technologies was emphasized as essential for fostering a robust digital economy to drive innovation and growth.

Notable attendees included Prince Omar bin Faisal, President of the Jordanian Esports Federation, and Eng. Sami Smeirat, Jordan's Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship. Both engaged directly with entrepreneurs during their tour of the pavilion.

DCO received the Partners Award at the MENA ICT 2024 Forum for its collaborative efforts in supporting startups. Additionally, Nigerian startup Hadiya was given the Special Recognition Award. Founder Oyindamola Kazee represented Hadiya at the event.

Partnership agreements were signed between several startups during the forum. At least three startups received investment proposals as a result of their participation in this initiative.

Honouring Contributions to Startup Success

Sheilah Birgen, Innovation-Driven Market Director at DCO, was honoured for her role as a judge for the MENA ICT Awards. She also contributed to a panel discussion titled "Bridging the Gap: Public-Private Synergies for Startup Success". Her involvement underscored DCO's commitment to nurturing startup ecosystems.

The forum provided an opportunity for entrepreneurs to connect with investors and participate in key discussions. This engagement is crucial for driving innovation and growth within various sectors across the region.
