Over 8,700 Pilgrims Benefit From Dammam Airport's 'Serving You Is An Honor' Initiative

Dammam Airports Company (DACO) successfully executed its operational plan to assist pilgrims during the 1445 AH Hajj season. The "Serving You Is an Honour" initiative was launched, providing services for pilgrims and managing their departure and arrival flights. The last flight carrying returning pilgrims arrived early Thursday morning at King Fahd International Airport, bringing the total number of pilgrims during the campaigns to over 8,700.

DACO's chief executive, Eng. Mohammed bin Ali Al-Hassany, emphasized that the initiative welcomed pilgrims, facilitated their travel, and provided necessary care and guidance. DACO set up an area at the airport with various services, including primary health care and guidance on religious rulings in multiple languages, including sign language.

The company provided registration and baggage check-in areas, real-time services for people with disabilities, specific locations for Hajj campaigns, and platforms for immediate interaction with participating government, health, and civil-society institutions. DACO also collaborated with the Eastern Province Municipality to launch a two-way transportation service to King Fahd International Airport, offering 2,000 free tickets.

The initiative, now in its eighth edition for the year 1445 AH, involved successful partnerships with 23 government and private agencies. The effort facilitated the smooth movement of pilgrims during departure and arrival, with the participation of over 300 volunteers and more than 5,000 employees from government agencies and the private sector operating in Dammam airports.

The initiative operated 22 flights to serve pilgrims departing and arriving at King Fahd International Airport and Al-Ahsa International Airport. Eng. Al-Hassany highlighted that DACO achieved record-breaking passenger and air-traffic numbers at King Fahd International Airport on the 7th of Dhul-Hijjah.

The number of passengers reached 50,139 on this day, marking a 20% increase from the peak recorded in 2023. The airport also set a new record for air traffic on the same day, with 374 flights, showing an estimated 8% growth compared to the highest number of flights in 2023.
